Got mine home last night, bloody stone hit the screen already .. never the less an enjoyable drive home.

Gratuitous pic

And so the question remains, yet slightly modified.

Where have all the strads gone, and why is there a Porsche in a strad thread?

Just sold my blue car for high 80's, it was in very good order and had only done 15k so don't be fooled by the silly asking prices
Sounds like strong money to me. Selling a 15k car for high 80's would seem to equate to a high 90's asking price from a dealer/indy. Most tend to be priced slightly below that (mid £90's) with only ultra low mileage cars priced above £100k.

The market for a car with the right spec, around 15k miles and from a respected dealer has been mid 90's for quite a while it seems. Cars are moving at that money (those d1ckh3ads again) though you would pay up to £8k less privately I would have thought.

With so few cars in the country, and very few in the classifieds, plus the fact that 3-4 people on here (me included) have bought recently, suggests the market is still fairly constant - not buoyant but stable.

There have been some exceptions like the McGurk car which was crashed, priced in the high £70's from memory. There was a cheap car from Cortese about a year to 18 months ago (red no factory stripe) and the car at Fosker's more recently (again red no factory stripe) both around £80k with mileage in the low 20's. I don't know the condition of these but there is a car at Furlonger which they have had a while in the mid £90's and mileage over 20k which they don't seem to want to accept a low bid on, because they think the condition is outstanding. Some would no doubt criticise them but they obviously believe they're right (greedy dealers who don't sell cars are not greedy dealers for very long are they?). The Fosker's car might have been good value for those who like red without stripe.

My local indy service dealer, who is looking after some pretty heavy metal for some serious supercar people has a view that there will come a day when Strads overtake Scuds in terms of price, based on supply and the fact that a number of his customers have gone to Scuds and returned to Strads because they prefer them.

Not everyone will feel the same (I'm not even sure I agree) but when there are people who think like that prices should stay strong. At the end of the day, all cars except a very select few chew money in one way or another, just some less than others.

As for me, I just like the car. I don't think I'll be able to keep the miles down so no doubt I'm screwed! rolleyes

So basically anyone who buys from a dealer is d@ckhead !!!

Market price is all about supply and demand.

A blue Strad with 16k less than 3 years ago was asking low 70's (think it was ex demo - not an issue) - so prices are definitely rising.

Interesting to see if they ever beat Scud prices (like for like) - driven a Scud and it's "different" to a Strad.

Would you be happy finding out your £100k hard earnt pride and joy had a non disclosed history, regardless of 'whom' repaired it? I know i bloody wouldnt. And yes the dealer did know about the crash on the first cccasion he had the car for sale. I think the moral ground/issue is more one of disclosure than how well its been repaired.

Hardly a light scratch is it ?

ok, glad we got to see the pics yet again.

so, this weekend you lose control of your new toy and need to replace both bumpers, front wing, rear quarter and a few other incidentals... you have a top league repair done paid for by your insurance and no signs of any repair...

do you then sell it for £15-20k below every other similar GT3 and make it clear in your advert it has been damaged, or tell whatever dealer your trading into it has been damged?

cars get damaged all the time, and get repaired all the time; it is nice if you don't pick one up, but in a lot of cases you might never know.

the real culprits are the types with cameras whom love to see a bit of exotic bent and cannot wait to share with a smile.

Which that particlura blue car was - it wasn't properly recorded by insurance or anything. Only those pictures here to remind of its history.

there are 5 categories in which the insurance companies define damge to a car...A , B, C, D & X.

unless it is damaged beyond economic repair, bad body shell damage or stolen / recovered, the insurance companies shall pay out to repair and have no requirement to record this anywhere.

on an hpi report, it shows number plate changes amonst other things; should it start to show insurance claims that have been made outwith these categories?

As much as I do appreciate your point I have been around the TDF car in question a few times. I have a fairly big OCD problem as far as cars a concerned, and as I have previously stated it was (to my eye) mint.

I do however totally agree that if a vendor has any knowledge of a previous bump, they really should be up front about it.
