lovely looking car , Im in the same boat , currently drive a 996 turbo x50 w/ exhaust , cats and re-map and i love it to death . Still though i have a huge ferrari itch and after thinking about 355 s am now leaning more towards a 360 , the missus is against it as the porker is so reliable and we have a really good indy in scsporsche which combined helps to keep running costs at a totally acceptable level , she feels a ferrari will be constantly broken down pulling 2-3k sums of cash from our bank account ... me, Im not so sure , i figure a good initial car if well used shouldnt be a problem , and cambelts at around 5-600 notes every 3 years is not extortionate , I mean a recent bill for her 968 boxster came to £1600 including a full service and 4 new tyres . One thing that worries me a little is that the ferrari will not feel fast enough , now i know its a fast car and so stunning to look at, and the speed is not a total priority to me ,but my turbo is so incredibly quick that i get a MAJOR buzz every time i drive it through the acceleration , from someone who came from a 996 turbo themselves (sure i read correctly) does the 360 feel like a noticeable drop in performance ?

Thanks.

Can't comment re:the 996 turbo as haven't had one but guess it depends what you want from the car and how you use it.

Whilst I know they are fast, usable etc 996/7 turbos generally don't do it for me. Even if the 360 is a little slower (can't be much diff between it and a standard 996T?) then I don't mind as to me it feels much more special and driving it more of an event.

Reliablity wise, buying a good one and keeping on top of maintenance seems to be the key. I've a few friends with 996/7 turbos and they haven't exactly been trouble free.

Sure other cars will be quicker but how much power do you need? If outright speed A to B to priority then I would of thought something like a 997 Turbo S/GTR/tweeked Evo would be hard to beat.

Either way, they're all great cars!

Cheers,
Mike.

After being a life long fan, on Friday I finally picked up my first Ferrari!!

It's a 360 Modena, manual, TDF with tan. I'd been looking around for several months and after viewing a number of cars that weren't for me I was planning on leaving it until the spring when this one turned up in pretty much my perfect spec, in great condition and I love it!
biggrin

It's a great feeling and hopefully we will have a bit of decent weather before the winter arrives.

I'd also like to say a big thank you to Tim at Walkersport. Not only for putting me in contact with the seller but also for all his help and advice whilst I've been looking for the right car, which has been invaluable. He even made time to sort a couple of bits on the car for me late on Friday evening on my way back up north - great service! Although I didn't buy the car from Tim I'd highly recommend dealing with him.

A quick pic...

Cheers,
Mike.
Stunning looking 360 M1KEY, lovely colour combo as well, hope it gives you many miles of driving pleasure fella!

No worries on the 'buzz' front with a 360. Get that engine singing and you'll completely forget about the Porsche.

im coming from a 6turbo which was mildly modfied and i have to say the 360 is a fair bit slower... I loved the insane buzz of speed and kick from the turbos but the 360 feels more special, gearchange, mid engine ride and the noise is a big thing for me and the porsche was muted. two very different cars and i will never play down how good the 996tt was but i do love the 360.

Well done Mikey.

Still remember my first drive in my first Ferrari as I drove it away from the dealer. It was absolutely pissing it down, hammering it down and I had 650 miles to drive back to Zurich.

I was completely and utterly terrified!!!
