Are these cars really selling for £575k as per the classifieds now? I can't think of another way to turn £350k into £550 in less than a year. What the hell happened?!
There have been far better buys than the F40 over the last year

The market's gone mad imo

Agreed. It doesn't seem that long ago when I believed an F40 was attainable. Even when they broke the £300k barrier I thought, 'ok, so the plan is just gonna take a little longer' - but this last few months has just taken them well away from realistic targets (for me).

How long before we see the £750k F40?

Think F50's have always been very undervalued and under appreciated compared to the F40 and Enzo.

Evo magazine recently did a test of the all the modern ish analogue supercars,
Zonda, Murci SV, CGT, Mclaren F1 and some others and they reckoned the F50 was the best of the lot.

Only 349 were made compared with over 1,300 F40's and 400 Enzo's

F50 was indeed joint winner with Carrera gt and f1 mac .
The f 50 is also so much rarer than the f40 .

£790k for an F40 - sure they were only £160k about 6 years ago.

The wrinkle around my eyes support this statement, too. smile

I've noticed similar with the 246 Dino as well. £60k not so long ago and now pushing £200. It's certainly not a £200k imho. It's very nice, but....

I was looking at a 246 a couple of months ago, and I agree, I just can't reconcile them as a £200k car in my mind.

Other folks seem to though, so looks like it's me that's out of step.

Which is the car to buy now that could double or triple in next 5 years?

Heres my guess, based on character, current demand, and restricted volume produced

Ferrari Challenge Stradale
Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Balboni
Mclaren P1
Porsche 997.2 GT3RS
Porsche 997.2 Speedster

Personally, I wouldn't say any of those. The market is very hit at the mo fir CSs and I think the others are all too new to appreciate, even given scarcity.

CS has already had it's rise, we are near the top of the market with prices doubled from 4 years ago. P1 is currently likely to demand a premium so best to wait, Balboni and 997's - who knows!
In fact who knows on any car, betting on future value seems to be a mugs game. Buy what you like, that way you can't loose.
