I bought a genuine Ferrari trickle charger a few months back, ready for the first winter months with my F1 360.

Today, I went to connect it for the first time and there doesn't appear to be anywhere to plug in the circular connection ?

From what I have read, and in the diagram in the crappy manual, it shows that you need to remove the cover underneath the hood (by the windscreen) and there is a connector where you plug it straight in.

I removed my cover and there is nowhere for me to plug it in ? picture as follows :

Anyone got any advice / ideas for me please ?

I'm not sure charger was standard so maybe you don't have any wiring - if you have the plastic plug you'll probably be best served by cutting it off and finding motorcycle type fittings on Ebay as a friend couldn't find the right socket when he had to diy a connection

As said fairly sure charger was an option, can check original invoice which I am sure it was on, it won't answer the question of if that included the extra wiring on the car but would make sense I guess

The old style (red) trickle charger was an optional extra so you will need to either buy the plug and bracket and mount it to the car, or change the plug on the end. Ferrari have long ditched that charger in favour of the CTEK unit. The old one is quite basic, and a bit of a pain to connect. You would be far better getting a new style intelligent unit such as the CTEK, and you also have more flexibility in hook-up location so it will be easier to use...

I think the trickle charger is an extra and they fit a extra loom to fit their unit onto. Go to eBay and get a ctek as suggested above which comes with a choice of croc clips and a permanent flying lead. About £45. I have them for all my cars and they are excellent and ip rated. Sell your Ferrari one on eBay and maybe you'll end up in profit! Hth.

In the 430 the battery was in the passenger foot well, not sure if it's the same as the 360 or not. Either way your best bet would be to buy a C-tek unit off Amazon (£50ish) and you can get it with either crocodile clips or these little things (technical I know biggrin) that attach to the plus and minus on the battery. That way you can just plug the charger right in. Take literally 2 seconds to plug/unplug the charger. I have it in a couple of my cars and it's brilliant!

Hope that helps!

I believe that the charger is best hard wired into the panel behind the passenger seat. Details here.

I fitted one to my 360
I bought a ctek which is exactly the same as the OEM unit but about £50 all in, and a adaptor which is wired permanently onto the battery with just the connector visible in the passenger footwell ... I still have it in the garage somewhere ... But check this link ... It took 15 minutes to wire in ... Just remove the footwell battery cover black to black, red to red and refit cover just leaving connector showing.
You can go for the cigar lighter type, but I thought the proper connector best.

I have a CTEK3600, it's the same one as the latest Ferrari badged one. I have it connected via the lighter socket, no problems whatsoever in the 5+ years I've used it this way.

It's interesting to note people's comments on the subject of trickle chargers.
I have the same problem as I can't locate the connector on my car to connect the FERRARI charger. It's a shame as I left this until the last moment and ended up using my C-tec instead. This works very well and I just connect it direct to the battery with the crocodile clips supplied. No problem as far as I'm concerned.
However I would like to use the FERRARI unit and wondered if anyone knows where I can buy the connector that would be on the car. I don't need the wiring just the connector and I will then wire it in behind the seat as suggested.
Any ideas anyone?

Most of the chargers come with a connection for attaching direct to the battery or a crocodile clip set up in the box.
Try ebay would be about your only chance or just make something up.

We fit the charger unit connectors behind the passenger seat. This is an easy fitment and does not run the risk of the cigarette lighter popping out.

We have a high failure rate of the Ctek units hence we only recommend the Accumate systems.

Fitting diagram attached.

Hi,
Like the original poster I bought a brand new FERRARI charger and found there was no wiring to connect it too.
Fortunately I found one advertised on EBay by Exotic Auto Recycling and got it mailed to me in France.
I'm not sure I will us the battery charger as I'm happy with my Ctek intelligent charger but it's always a good thing to have in my opinion.
I'll post up when I've found how to connect the wiring loom.

TBH the original red Ferrari charger was completely awful, and prone to overheating and short circuit. I wouldn't advise the original unit is used at all.......

I have the CTEK unit on my 360, I simply hardwired it behind the nearside seat with the capped connector just visible, worked perfectly for the whole of last winter and is now plugged in ready for this one!

Yes, as long as it's a permanent connection, which I think it is on a 360, it's fine.
