I wouldn't bother with inspection from main dealer, they have to inspect the car to put a 2 year warranty on it and then you have 2 years where you can just send it back should a problem occur.
According to the above, if you wind up with cracked manifolds then this won't be covered by the lesser warranty that come on older cars (I'm looking at 2006 f40s). Furthermore a ppi would tell you how much clutch wear there is and the state of other consumables like pads and discs that aren't covered by any warranty.
This is a fair comment however I bought a 2006 car two years ago and the dealer inspection found an issue with the manifolds which was changed straight away at their cost. If buying from a main dealer and I found the manifolds were buggered soon after purchase I'd insist they were sorted. Point is an independent inspection is unlikely to uncover any more than the dealers own inspection if its a reputable dealer.

Alternatively, fit Capristo manifolds, admittedly about £3k in cost but will not crack (even replacement Ferrari OEM items will crack again).

Side benefits are that they come with heat shields that keep excess heat away from ancillary engine components, they add a really good amount of extra torque all across the rev range (similar to scud) and the noise is absolutely fabulous - still quiet at low speeds but builds brilliantly as speed increases. Transforms the car to a degree that's hard to believe.

When I sold my 430 to Graypaul, there was no problem and they sold the car on again very quickly. An outstanding upgrade.

Spoke to an insurance company specialising in high performance cars today. Chap told me that people often change from Aston to Ferrari but rarely if ever the other way around.

Given nobody else has responded thought I would have a stab.

For me buying my Ferrari was the fulfilment of a childhood dream. As such I am of the opinion that you should not look to scrimp in any way on the car as I would not want anything to tarnish my ownership experience. Whatever needs done to the car I will have done. Similarly you cannot be afraid to drive it for fear of depreciation as again that would detract from the ownership experience. If you are going to do it do it properly.

I am in Scotland which like you has little in the way of independents. I am aware what independents charge and when booking my car in for a service at the main dealer was happy with the price they quoted. From my experience the dealers do not try and rip you off. To date I have found them to be very helpful and courteous. FYI the charge for oil (engine and transmission) in the service was around the £160 mark so not sure how much you would save supplying you own - personally its not something I would even consider.
My F430 cost me £2400 for 2 services and consumables which is pretty damned epic. Servicing at main dealer (wilmslow) and sundries at an indy in Eccles (forget the name now). So whilst you had a point, I was probably 2 grand better off over 2 years which is pretty good, AND there was zero compromise in the workmanship (was probably better). My current McLaren is a different kettle of fish, at the moment there is no mature indy network so it's main dealer all the way (indys are starting to emerge however :-)

Having had both now, I can conclude that IMHO you need one of each. They're different horses for different courses and actually incomparable. I'm going to get another DB9V to go alongside the Mac.

I agree, have a V12 Vanquish and if I had the money and space would love a manual 360.....one day maybe if my lottery numbers come up!

You just need to downgrade wink

I have a V8 Vantage and a manual 360 and they do go well together. Although admittedly, I bought my 360 before the prices got quite so optimistic.

I quote fancy a V12 Vantage tbh, prices seem to have softened in the 18 months since I last had a gander. Powerful new(ish) manual sportcars with NA engines are pretty thin on the ground nowadays
