1 of only 2 and they're both for sale, lol what are the chances? The fact that one was for sale 3 years ago for less than half the price puts me off but then again all supercars have shot up in price. I'd want the red one cos I don't like yellow cars but the yellow one has full history. In some ways I think they are even cooler than F40's (but not better obviously) Firstly the extreme rareness, second they had even more power and 3rd as mentioned no one except the most hardcore petrol heads would know what it is. I think you've got to be over 40 like me to appreciate Koenigs and how awesome they were, if you're younger they probably just look old and silly (also like me).
I wonder how availability of modified parts would be in the fairly likely event that one of these engines grenades itself? Are Koenig still in business?
I was offered a Koenig modified 512BBi a few years back for a bargain price. I chickened out in the end because I felt it would just be a very very expensive mistake as the car had sat unused for nearly ten years.

Mmhh brings me back to my youth ..... I would love to own one of these, but not at nearly 90k
I suspect thenrunning costs will not be cheap though, 520hp sounds like regular engine rebuilds to me ...
Edit: I just googled the koenig testarossa again - I had forgotten how outlandish they look - god I want one of those

The cover of Performance Car with one on was iconic. The accompanying story was pretty good too, when car journalism really was that.I suspect thenrunning costs will not be cheap though, 520hp sounds like regular engine rebuilds to me ...

Not sure if koenig are still in business for parts, the website looks like it's not been touched in 20 years. Don't think they've done any complete car conversions since the 90s. I've often wondered what a koenig twin turbo f430 or 458 would of looked and sounded like. Monsterous no doubt. Wish they would make a comeback, the market for them is definitely there, there's more £1m cars around than ever before!

Somehow what was cool and outrageous in the 80s has now morphed into tacky and tasteless in this era (see Mansory as an example). Adam B said:

I'm sure they do quite well due to the proliferation of inane Youtube videos bigging them up to impressionable fools with money who are all about making as brash a statement as possible. In the 80s it was about appealing to the cognoscenti.cgt2 said:

get real, supercars are brash anywayI don't see the problem with people customizing the styling to their car as they please to make it look different - especially given the location of where most of these cars live where there are countless 458's around etc

Completely disagree, but then I guess it comes down to what your parameters are. If you think doing horrible things to a car enhances it we are at two completely opposite ends of the spectrum.. Reminds me of a wally from Bradford I saw on TV awhile back saying that he knew more about car styling than all the great Italian design houses. Oh dear.I don't see the problem with people customizing the styling to their car as they please to make it look different - especially given the location of where most of these cars live where there are countless 458's around etc
