For me it's not about affordability, its about using a car for what it's designed and an Enzo isn't designed to be thrashed around farmers yards and dirt tracks. Fine take it on track and give its head upto 200 miles an hour, hit the brakes so it nearly pulls your face off that's what it's designed for, Put loads of miles on it etc, I'm the first to hate the garage queen cultre.
However thrashing it around a muddy dirt track is just unnecessary, this chap might have loads of money and ofcourse he can do what he likes but to big him up for it is just daft.
A car is designed to be driven, a supercar is designed to be driven and enjoyed.

There is no higher purpose, its not in some imaginary super league of cars. If it is being driven and enjoyed, it is 100% fulfilling its intended purpose.

As for unnecessary, its a 650bhp V12 mid engined supercar. Everything about it is unnecessary. He is being bigged up because its nice to see someone using a car rather than polishing it.

GT3 Rally
Thanks for the link, you see that word Rally?. That means its built for rallying. Everything about the Enzo means its not.

And which part of what the Enzo was doing was rallying? Driving on a potholed road, concrete or muddy puddle?

And you'd better tell Redbull they're doing it wrong F1 offroad

A Citroen Saxo is "just" a car.

Cars like the one in the video are works of art and love and have a soul. They shouldn't be treated like this.

Driven on a circuit yes but not around a muddy farm FFS.
If a car cost you a hundred quid (which could be an equivalent to this bloke) would you care about driving it around some slightly muddy lanes?

Who died and left you in charge of determining what a car is or isn't designed for?

I plan to stick a mucking great big V8 into an old Ford Granada estate. Could you please be so kind as to tell me what that will or will not be designed for, as I wouldn't wish to do the wrong thing with it.

My 2p worth.
If I could; I would jack up (raise) the suspension and go rally crossing in it. I'm sure the locals would get more pleasure from it then screaming upto 60-70 on the public roads, personally I think it looks a bit wk as a car.

Does the young man have anything to sell in terms of business or product? The amount of traffic and GLOBAL news coverage he has generated in such a short period of time is truly staggering, very impressive. Google "Ferrari Enzo Rally" and it is all over the shop!

Shame not to capitalise on all the attention I say.

If he can afford to treat an enzo like that he probably won't need a bit of a free publicity...

Can people stop missing the point?

An old Ford Granada estate is in no way comparable to an Enzo!!

It is not a thing of beauty, of spirit or of soul. You can do what you like with it although if it was clean and was old enough to have classic status that would be another thing.

On another note, it's absolutely fascinating to see the two widely differing but distinct views on this subject, each group as passionate as the other smile

(ETA polarised was the word).

Didnt Lamborghini pick up on that market quite early on though?

I think at some point Ferrari also made tractors and porsche made the 959 and Cayenne, both agricultural vehicles.
