I think the assumption here is that because this is a video of one person enjoying their own car how they see fit that every car that hasnt been videoed has been driven with the utmost care and never wheelspun or got dirty...

Most cars are driven. Plenty driven hard. In between owners they generally go through a dealer who reconditions and prepares them ready for the next owner.

The cars are given a pretty good kicking in final testing before they leave the factories and anyone who has been to Sant Agata would say the roads around there are not unlike the roads on this video!

Fantastic video, proper made me smile each time I have watched it.

As far it being wrong because it's an Enzo, well all down to each persons opinion I suppose but I think its excellent.

Its just a car, made from metal and carbon fibre. It can be repaired or replaced.

Its brilliant to see one being used like that, nothing a good detailing session won't fix.

I think it is very good on him for enjoying the cars he, or his Dad, owns. And especially so for making awesome videos and sharing them with us.

I admit to cringing at some points, but it is much better than seeing it sitting in a collection doing nothing.

Lots of jealousy in this thread.

If that was my Enzo, I'd do that everyday, just because I can.

I don't think most comments are driven by envy

I do think they are from petrol heads who have a deep respect for cars more so for cars in this league an Enzo is for driving hard - yes absolutely but over harsh potholed surfaces where suspension takes a hammering I think not now if he'd done it in a T16 or Quattro SWB I would applaud.

However I realise I am sad I cringe when I see people sitting on bonnets chatting at meets or writing on stuff on roofs and don't get me started on dragging hoses around a car or revving from cold

The other day I saw a guy getting snow off his Porsche with a yard brush

For me it's about respecting the car this is like a race horse pulling a beer dray

don't see that sorry?

even if it was there, don't get the 'respect' thing - can like a car, have a soft spot for a manufacturer and respect people involved but the car itself?

With you 100% on this. I get the respect thing absolutely, I treat my cars with respect and mechanical sympathy, however that doesn't mean you can't still drive them quickly before anyone says it.
Awaits comments that a horse is horse and if it were my horse it should be happy on a race track , Blackpool beach or even a burger!.

What's the problem? The video shows some sliding 'round on slightly rough roads....that is completely normal usage as far as the engineers who designed the car are concerned, going fast on a bumpy b road (or the 'Ring) would generate much higher stress on components. It's built to do just what the customer is doing.

Maybe your right sir just re watched but still looks choppy at 1.24>

I just feel cars should be treated with more respect - but I fully accept its each owners choice to do exactly what they want with there own property.

I treat my cars with respect and mechanical sympathy, only because I have too. I need my cars to be maintained and not abused because I don't want to fork out for repair bills and when I sell them on, I want to present something that's is value for money and not rip someone off.....get a good deal for my next car. Pretty simple, probably the case for 99% of us.

If I was filthy rich why would I care? You can buy a new suspension for an Enzo..you could have one rebuilt..so you have to ask your self the question are cars something to own or something to use?
If you want something to own and appreciate for aesthetics, invest in art, I'm sure this guy is not taking sledgehammers to sculptural masterpieces and Stanley balding paintings just because he can, he's driving his car.

I think some of us respect the cars too much because we can not afford the components and parts to be replaced on a regular basis , there,s something about driving though with no respect for the car and no worries about repair bills etc that is kind of erotic and fulfilling , having control over a car such an enzo rather than it having control over you because you scared to push it simply don,t do the car justice in some people's eye,s . It,s good to see it happen , even though pretty rare for obvious reasons as stated above . Those of us who think we push our cars to the limit should take a leaf out of this guys book , look at Valentino Balboni , not exactly shy with throwing a car around and putting through it,s paces is he .

Nicely said. My opinions are perhaps a bit out of kilter because I'm not hugely interested in road cars - I'm a motor racing enthusiast above all else. I happen to like a few road cars as well.

If the Enzo was better-looking and worse to drive I could understand the viewpoint of keeping it as a piece of art. In reality, it's a decent-looking car, but one whose skills lie in its dynamic capabilities, not aesthetics. If you were talking about some irreplacable jewel which drove poorly I'd understand, perhaps.

If I were infinitely rich and owned some land and an Enzo, and of course had some modicum of driving talent, I imagine I'd do exactly what this lad is doing. I'd use my Exige in precisely that way if I had the money to replace the bits I broke. Sadly I am as poor as I am inept behind the wheel.

I don't really buy the 'respect for the vehicle' argument. Everything on a nearly-new car can be replaced, as a rule. Perhaps if it were a racing car with a peerless competition heritage I might buy that, but that would be respect for its achievements and the heroes who drove it.

My take on it is that one example of every car produced should be kept as a pristine, perfect example. Every other one should be used, abused and, most importantly, enjoyed.

Driving a car on a good but muddy surface isn't exactly WRC.

In fact, I would think that apart from getting dirty, sliding a car around and doing donuts on a slippy surface caused less wear or damage than doing it on dry ground. Top Gear do more 'abuse' dicking around on their runway.

I'm in 2 minds with this video. Part of me loves seeing an Enzo being driven hard but the other part of me doesn't like to see it done on roads/mud like that.

Fair play to the chaps car control and the thinking behind the video but I think I prefer to see Enzo's being driven hard on a race track like this:

Some of this thread is as entertaining as the original video.

Yes, the car is not on a race track but Brunters, Dunsfold and FOS aren't race tracks either.

I remember that, those in the car were lucky it did not flip over and the fact it is built like a tank certainly helped in the fact they escaped injury.
