I'm in the process of buying a 2003 car & I've been told that the fuel tanks need to be changed every 10 years, so "mine" is right in the cross hairs for this..

Any information on this would be greatly appreciated (costs, factory vs HR Owen vs Specialists, is it really necessary etc etc !)

Thanks in Advance...
I would like to think that I am up on all things Zonda but I have never heard this before. I would be interested in your findings.

As for costs, Zonda's are expensive, end of story

here are a couple of articles that mention the replacement but I cannot find anything else at all
I know the F40 needs the fuel bags replacing but I assume that's because they are 'bags'

The best thing to do is contacting the factory about it. Between internet rumors and price changes in Pagani after they went into "hypercar" category (read "went much higher") then the internet will not give you accurate information on this. There's also not really Pagani "specialists" apart from the approved dealers. I do know of a car that had the sump replaced at the local Mercedes garage as it is the Merc engine, but that was in the early days and not sure how much you would want that on the service history now the cars are (even more) expensive.

Well I never, I have read Harry's reports a number of times in the past but for some reason that "Tanks" comment just did not stick. I will have to dig back into my build photos and see if he is talking about a tank liner because the tank structure is a part of the tub

Thanks for the responses. I am on the case, so will let you know what I find out.
Pics of the car to follow also. I didn't plan to buy this car, in fact I was looking at something else, but once I test drove it.. the rest was history. What a machine ! It's like nothing I've ever driven ..

Congratulations HPO. Hope you have years of fun. The Zonda has been a big part of my life but that's another story. Is your car a silver C12S featured in this video? (at the start, near the end and tested at Oulton Park by Martin Brundle at around 27m 30s) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4i5IxfAE-4

Not sure but I think Tom Hartley might have owned this car some time ago but maybe someone like Streetrod would know better.

I wonder how darksider is getting on.

Awesome, getting close and personal with such an expensive car!

Make sure you loctite these screws back in place, and torque them up right... The vibrations from that engine will have them loose again in no time otherwise!
By loctite do you mean you have to put glue on them first?
It's a locking agent, not glue... it never really 100% dries and just hardens slightly... once you unscrew with any force it just crumbles.

Probably want loctite red or blue for this sort of application.
Just to confuse us all, the blue liquid comes in a red tube.... wobble

Tamiya threadlock. Dries to a flexible blue rubber sort of stuff. Easily rubbed off.

Hi - no mine is RHD, although a similar colour. I hadn't seen that footage before - so thank you.
I will post some photos up when I get a sec. Unfortunately because of some work I am having done, I won't get the car home for a few weeks. Plenty of time to plan a road trip though .. !

I guess it's #...SF76030 then! Are you able to say when the car got the upgrades? They were done by 2010, but they may have been done in 2009? And again if you don't mind then is it ok to say what you're getting done to the car now? Congratulations on the purchase!

That's the car - well done! Where did you find that information from?

The F upgrades were done in 2009 from memory - the paperwork is with the car. The work I am doing is purely routine or cosmetic: front end respray for chips. protective film, service and possibly fuel tanks.

Ok - my error here, I didn't watch the footage properly. It is a RHD that he tests & yes, the interior looks very similar. I'll find out !

Yours is the car in the video - formerly C12 SGT. Last known plate, to me, it 1 TH. The car he drives in Italy is LHD.

With the data given, these would be the relevant cars to consider:
76007 - RHD, Grey - owned by a PHer, and quite extensively modified
76012 - LHD, Silver - ex-Rio Prestige, last known to be in Germany
76021 - RHD, Silver - ex-Harry Metcalfe
76030 - RHD, Silver - formerly C12 SGT and other plates, now c/o HPO
76046 - RHD, was Silver - now in GJ form

Thanks. Good to know some more history. If you are interested in how the car looks today the advert is still currently on PH.

It is a lovely spec. I really like the original, un-upgraded cars. The touches are subtly done on this car though: a quick glance shows F wing mirrors and F wheels. Looks great!

You must be very excited to receive it!
