Just bought a 458 , I'd love to see where they're been given away!. Most have dropped 20% in the last 3 years. Which isn't bad at all by super car standards.
Awaits the old LHD chestnut(-:
Which dealer has your Scud now Steve?

I bought the car from GrayPaul in the end. It's got everything I wanted but no sat-nav or electric seats, both of which are not neccesary for me.
Thoughts so far are, bloody hell this is proper quick and I wish it's stop raining(-:. Looking forward to the weekend!.

The 458 appears to have held up a little better £ for £ than the 12C, no doubt there is a reflection within this advantage due to the heritage and brand. McLaren should learn form this, Brand loyalty has to be earned over a period of time, it is not a given.

Albeit, the 12C is absolutely epic to drive, I am fortunate that get to drive a lot of what I think at the time are quick cars, then I get back in a 12C, different performance dimension to other performance cars.

Could the 458 not be holding up a little better than the 12C due to the tactics Ferrari are employing? (dealers holding more stock than they advertise etc etc) to help keep the numbers available trimmer than they typically would be?

Around where I live its almost a standard thing that guys who aren't normally into cars buy a Ferrari when they get to 45-50

There have got to be 15+ 458s just in my village

That's what holds up the value in the second hand market

Perhaps in time people will grow up wanting one day to own a Mclaren but at the minute demand really comes from "petrol heads" and that doesn't hold up residuals imo

I think this is exactly right, it's not about the better car but the bullst and the heritage that goes with it.

I did consider a Mac myself but due to poor service from the selling dealer I thought better of it. That said one day I hope to try one.

Shame you didn't get one of the ones they were giving away, I looked but couldn't find one of those either.
Least you bought resale red so it is guaranteed to be worth at least 10 bob when you sell it....

Seriously though, good choice you will love it, just need to lower the suspension at touch...
Will keep an eye out for you in Le Mans...

I could not agree more, Just look at the performance or rather the lack of it, over the years of JLR in JD power surveys, along side the record sales.

I'm staying at Club Valan over on the airport but if you see me about please say hello. I'm the short fat bloke with a bottle of beer in my hand(-: Mind you I've just described a large proportion of Brits in attendance.

Apologies - wasn't meaning to be a pr1ck.
Should have said simply that 1 year old cars have lost more money than I would normally expect a V8 Ferrari to lose at this point in its life cycle. Anyway, you only live once, if you got the dough, it's all meaningless.

Congrats on your new car.

At that end of the village you don't see the front doors, let alone see them open onto the pavement wink

there are plenty of jokes on here about "haircuts" and I am beginning to wonder myself about how many are getting them?!

how can it be that every 458 and california on here for sale has only done about 2000-6000 miles. I see dozens in London being used as daily drivers, fine admittedly you dont do much mileage in London A-B but dont tell me these cars dont go on drives on the weekends or down to monaco for a run. I find it hard to believe that 2 year old cars have covered such small mileage? Tell me Im being paranoid?
Met a 430 owner at the weekend who said he'd been offered the services of a clocker who claimed he'd 'adjusted' more 458s than there are in the UK, some having been in for a second time. That might explain why there are none with more than a few thousand on the clock...

So all the 458's in the uk have been clocked at least once. It's easy enough to check the mileage on these cars with all the on board computers . While I know it goes on sometimes you have to take what people say with a pinch of salt.
