Sounds like someone's done an aftermarket upgrade so they can switch the sound on off from the key fob and they're trying to persuade people it's standard fit. TBH, it's a lot of car for the money. Quite like the colour combos actually.

Edit: sorry, thought it was RHD but it's not

This car was on sale with a dealer in Belgium for 115,000 Euros since February, it was the cheapest 458 in Europe for many months. So there's still a £15k markup. It did look a nice car and I was suprised it was unsold for so long.

Oh and if it's a mod to allow remote opening of the valves it is £300, not £10,000! That would be the price for a state of the art custom made inconel system.. gotta love a bit of misdescription.

That spec, mileage, colour means this isn't a cheap car. Out of ferrari warranty, before the 7 year service plan and a left hooker are all against it!

this thread is always worth a little bump biggrin

32 months on and still no closer to the £100k 458 (decent RHD)

If anything they are still £120k to £150k (for decent RHD coupes)

I always buy cash, as do some of my friends. Especially when it comes to supercars. We do it this way because we don't want to be saddled with a stupid finance package "just in case" and you can't shift the car. I might finance smaller cars (wife's Q7) because I know if st hit the fan, it wouldn't be a major problem. If u allowed myself to take out finance I wouldn't be picking up a 12c on Monday, but a 650s.

I'm not surprised the 458 is holding values, in my opinion it's looking better with age. Clutch replacements are the thing of the past and general quality of build is excellent. Ok it might not be the fastest these days but it's still seriously quick.
Still lots of presence.

Interesting thing re the clutch replacement. What are the chances we're deferring those replacement charges to that one massive cost when the DCT(eventually?) fails?

There have been a few instances of earlier cars with DCT failiures, other than that there appear to be no real reliability issues with the 458 and we are now 5 years in.

I ran my 458 for 12 months or so and 12k ish miles no issues at all. First service was about £250 which was a pleasant surprise.
Incidentally I saw a Speciale today in the wild and it looked stunning. Great looking cars in standard form and even better in Speciale guise.

Finance is irrelevant these days, as it's so cheap. Biggest costs are always depreciation, followed by running costs. If the 650S depreciated less than 12C you'd be mad not to consider it. Youve made a sensible financial decision on 12c that is at bottom of depreciation curve and a lovely looking car too !

Don't tempt me!!! :-)

It's not so much they cost of the money, to me it's having that monthly payment hanging over you, or even a balloon at the end that could coerce you into selling a car or refinancing. I've just found that buying out right is the most hassle free way to go. I'm more inclined to borrow to buy an investment property with a view that the value increase beyond the cost of the money.

Not strictly correct, the silver LHD car with 45k miles that appears to be for sale with two different dealers originated from Belgium and I was offered it for equivalent to £80k about 15 months ago. It appears to have eventually sold for £85k and come to the UK (initially went up at £100k)

Since then it seems to have moved from dealer to dealer at varying prices and is still for sale. Easily recognisable car as it has silver paint, red carpets and nero seats.
