Reedman due diligence on this car would appear to be more 'due' and 'diligent' than Amari Cars.

My German friend translated most of it, it's a bit more than a run through the kitty litter.

Under trays front and rear.
New wheels
Lots of paint
New windscreen
New side windows.
New suspension (?)
Plus I can remember at the moment.

A nearly 30k euro bill from 2003 - would cost a lot more today.

Damaged over 10yrs ago so assume there's no long term problems with it ?

I read it as that too, I didnt get the suspension bit though.

So sounds just as we were told, no panels replaced but probably whole car painted.

Suppose it would be quite easy to rack up a bill like that on a week old car, especially if Ferrari were doing the job.

Agreed. Which is what this was described as and what makes me a little uncomfortable. You don't need a new windscreen when you have a little off into a gravel trap. This car has been comprehensively repaired, but not described as such. EUR 30,000 is EUR 30,000 - it can't really be brushed aside however new the car, especially at 2003 prices.

Not quite mate, suspension is a big thing... And not quite what your ad says. This is turning into a bit of an Amari ad for the car. Best of luck with the sale, but I would hope that your descriptions are a little more transparent going forward. It's not left the best impression with me, but I'm sure that's no loss, for I am a simple man with small pockets. smile Good on you for not getting all defensive and aggressive though. You, yourself come off well in this, but the car/sale less so.

TBH the bit I got as suspension was translated to sticks / struts.

If it was an insurance job then yeah you would go all out to get everything replaced which may of only been cosmetic, a few stone chips on the windscreen, scratches or something on the side ones, scratches on the wheels / paintwork etc.

I'm sure the more diligent of you looking for a LHD CS will already know that this car :

http://www.autosalon-singen.de/en/fahrzeugm1175005...

has a similarly "large" (23k Euros) bill from 2006. Two wheels (1 front, 1 rear) a rear bumper, paint etc etc.

Nice, "no stories", cheap (sub £85K) LHD cars no longer appear to exist in Europe.

Furthermore, I'm intrigued by the DK Engineering white rev counter car, it sold the same day apparently. Nice spec (Lexan and factory stripe) but a gaping chasm in it's service history for the first five years of it's life (or that's how it appeared) who would buy a car with such a gap in its history ? Or has the market moved into a "There's not many of these around, buy on condition, these are about to go stratospheric" phase ?

Perhaps UK market is moving into line with rest of world - where the obsession with annually draining clear cold pressed first harvest virgin engine oil from hardly used engines is considered absurd. The mileage of these cars can be checked via the computer thing so 'stamps' are not needed to verify mileage. On the mechanical front a load of vested interest tosh is spouted on these forums about titanium bits exploding blah blah blah if oil is changed 2 days after the 12 month interval....DK are not going to sell a car if this 'gap' was a real issue - although of course they will be first to recommend an annual oil change...as long as they are doing it!

So yes, buy on combination of service history, number of owners and condition.

Hi Tony,

Interesting, I'd assumed the DK car was this car advertised on PH last summer :

http://thumbsnap.com/wTLqiheA

the mileage, Lexan windows and white rev counter all seemed to point to them being the same car.
A quick glimpse at the advert would lead you to believe the service history looked good, but closer inspection reveals that those early visits were for warranty issues not servicing. Still, not all bad, it looks to have only done 6k miles in the five years before it was first serviced.......

I'm with you Roygarth, with the best will in the world modern cambelts don't fail after 1000 miles and/or 2-3 years. Likewise I'd rather buy a car that had done 3000 miles a year and had it's oil changed every year or two years, than a car that does 250 miles a year but is religiously serviced. The problem is the Ferrari used car market doesn't work like the Porsche used car market, it's a case of play by their rules or feel the pain in your wallet come resale time it seems.

Not a great colour combination (though I like it) but this is less than £85k (converted) in the US:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ferrari-360-2004-FERRARI-3...

Coming home in a couple of months, have a feeling I should have bought one of these here when they were in the £70ks and had no import duty etc for personal ownership etc.

Hi, contrary to what their ad says, the LHD car at Dick Lovetts is 50k KM's, not 50K miles. Asking price is £119K.

Yes I'm aware of them always quoting LHD CS's in miles when it should be KM. :-)

I own one of those 25 cars, probably the only one in Europe. They also have a carbon roof skin. They are currently around £125k in Japan plus shipping and taxes.

Cheers,
Bryn.
