I knew guy when he had hair....

I think the Evans/Collins relationship is a little more 'symbiotic' now..but what do I know?...beyond the 'Candyman can..'

Painful. Egotism seeping from every orifice. Knows a hell of a lot more about Ferraris than fine art as well !

Coca Cola is obviously a good franchise to have, having seen some of his cars.

He left selling cars when he sold up in Egham to selling vintage guitars or similar iirc.
Then all of a sudden he came back to selling Ferraris. From reading his facebook posts he sold two Ferraris to the underbidders at the recent auction instead of shipping them back to the UK - nice earner for very little effort on those!
I find this RM comment very interesting.

I do too - because I don't understand what it means! Did he take cars similar to the ones in the RM Auction over there and then do a deal on them with the people who missed out on the RM cars?

No I guess it simply means that he bought two cars at auction and then negotiated a deal with the under bidder after the auction had closed. I guess you could infer that he flipped them to the under bidder for a profit ... But who knows?

Apologies chaps for the misunderstanding of my post. This is his facebook post AFTER one that said he had bought the 500 Mondial "Just sold the 500 Mondial sold after the sale to a cool guy who was the under bidder and a serious collector who really wanted the car - and meant i did not have to fly the car back to London + bought some other cool cars - more news when I am back - flying home tomorrow - http://www.talacrest.com/Ferrari-Sales/Ferrari-500... - would have been a nice thing to have around - but it has gone to a good home!"

How bizarre! I wonder why the under bidder didn't just keep bidding in the auction?!

Maybe the under bidder was bidding against a reserve and reached his (predetermined ?) limit.

I guess you can't hope to beat the 100% profit margin one (in)famous dealer has been achieving!

If I was an under bidder in an auction, there is no way I would buy off the winning bidder!!!!. If that happened to me in an Auction, all sorts of alarm bells would be going off.

Under bidder might of realised that the person he was bidding against was a dealer. Rather than continue the bidding exchange he instead elected to stop and purchase afterwards. We'll never know but might of actually saved him money.

Ahh right, got it now thanks. It was Collins who was the vendor and selling through RM but the auctioneer was bidding the under bidder up to the reserve but didn't quite get there. Collins then approached the under bidder after the sale and did a deal for under his original reserve to save him having to ship back to the UK.

Colons wasn't the vendor, he was the buyer
