F430 Market Watch
Discussion
Apologies for the delay in getting this month's update out. For 360 prices and news of another price increase please head over here: Aldous Voice Blog
Average F430 prices have firmed for a second month in a row, gaining 0.68% MoM. The index is now 99.94 and is almost exactly at the level when I first started collecting the data a year ago.
The number of cars for sale has increased by 17. I see 27 cars drooping out of the population, with 44 new entrants to the market and 47 unsold (see the big table at the end of this post for details). Two cars are offered for sale privately.
Here's the data cut up in the usual way:
Here's the plot of prices vs mielages. Note that the outlier we saw last month has been joined by a similarly optimistically priced car with 54k on the clock.
Here are the theoretical average asking prices for different mileages:
Here's the table showing which cars have moved in or out of the data (click on the picture to go to Thumbsnap and click it again to see the detail):
It seems that prices rises of the older models are finally filtering through to the newer metal. 360's are on the up which can only mean F430 prices have to follow suit - who'd choose a 360 over an F430 for the same money?
Please let me know if you want anything in particular.
Regards,
Aldous Voice.

Wow, F1 gearboxes at an £8,000 premium over manuals. That gap seems to be widening.
I can't see the average asking price for steel brake equipped cars as the Thumbsnap icon is obscuring the figure. Can you tell me what it is Aldous?
Thanks for posting this info. I'll buy you a bear at Wilton House if you're going this year?

It's strange isn't it. The internet is full of talk about how manual cars are sought after but the pricing doesn't reflect this. I guess if you desire a stick you are in luck!red_duke said:

I'm not going to be at Wilton - my invite got dropped after I pulled out last year due to the crash. No doubt we'll meet soon so you can make mine a grizzly.voicey said:

You should come to Wilton anyway! I'm making my own way down and will be parked up on the West Lawn.

Some F430's have the suspension jacked up like that from the factory! http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/f...

That particular car seems well priced and the vendor will sell for less than asking however they wont take the car for an inspection. Read into that what you will....

I would want that suspension changed immediately, looks wrong sat so high? That particular car seems well priced and the vendor will sell for less than asking however they wont take the car for an inspection. Read into that what you will....
As a private sale, yes id expect a lot £ off compared to any dealer, as for no inspection, I wouldn't want to part £80k (I wish I had £80k) on a private sale car without an inspection of some sort

Lovely, all except the crema interior. Why do people like crema so much? It makes a modern ferrari look like a vintage one, ages faster (shows dirt) and generally doesn't look very sporty. I spent months waiting for one with black sports seats! Interior colour rant over. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/f...

Time for another update. For news on the 360 market please head of here: Aldous Voice Ferrari Blog.
Average F430 asking prices have softened 0.25% since last month. The index is now 99.69, up 1.45% since a year ago.
The number of cars for sale is broadly the same as the prior month. It is worth noting that there are roughly half the number of 360's for sale at the moment. There are still two private sales out there and I see 29 cars dropping out of the data. There are 26 new entrants to the market this month and 62 unsold.
Here is the data cut up in the usual way:
Here's the plot of mileages vs asking price. Note that the two £80k cars with intergalatic mileages remain unsold.
Here are the theoretical average asking prices for given mileages:
And here's the big table where I try and capture the sold/unsold/new cars. To see it properly click on it to go to Thumbsnap and click again to zoom in.
Finally, I have been thinking about the overlap between the 360 and F430 markets. The 360 has enjoyed a very buoyant year and prices have been encroaching on the F430 for a while now. I have plotted price vs mileage for 360's over £60k and F430's below £75k. I was expecting more of an overlap but, aside from the two ludicrously priced 360's, the markets remain pretty divided.
That's it for this month. As usual, please let me know if you want anything in particular.
