RSB for the plenums - they made a fab job of mine !

and i know people get upset when we talk of values etc, but in all honesty i am torn between putting mine up for sale or keeping it.

trouble is I hardly use it - fantastic car that it is !

Redditch Shot Blasting - the only place to go for the factory finish.

If you have a look on Club Scuderia you will see loads of examples of their work

Manual vs F1 delta. If you are driving one of these cars then well done - a couple of years ago you couldn't give away a manual 430!
Yes you could, I sold mine with 18k miles for £65k! lol. At the time the best trade bid was £55k!!

Time for another update. For the latest on 360 prices please head over here.

Average F430 asking prices have increased for a third month in a row, adding 1.77% since this time in May. Prices have increased by nearly 11% in 2016 and the average asking price is close to £100k. The index is now 123.47.

I have only just noticed that the bottom of the curve (Nov 2013) was right when I bought my F430 - what timing!

From what I can determine, buying interest in the F430 remains strong. One reason I believe is because the money to buy a prime 360 will get you a good F430.

Here's the main table:

Here's the price vs mileage plot:

Manual cars continue to hold a significant premium over F1 gearboxes. I think the dynamic with these is going to be similar to the CS and Scud where people hold onto their cars and restrict supply. Whether someone will pay £160k for an F430 remains to be seen...

Finally here's the big table showing which cars are in/out of the data population. It's been a work in progress since the advert structure changed so please bear with me.

Voicey, as usual brilliant data, thank you. Interesting that there is only one response to this update thus far, normally there are a few by now with owners pleased at the ongoing increase in advertised prices. I saw this yesterday and bizarrely my reaction was mixed at best. Is the F430 really becoming a "collectable"? Make no mistake it's great to see prices going up from where I bought mine in 2014 but if I do another year like last year when I put on 6,000 miles I'll be taking it over the 20k mark. Now even as I type this I can hear the voice inside of me saying "Great, drive it more - at least you're not losing value!" but regardless of the depth of your pockets (and the bottom of mine are well within reach), no-one can ignore the fact that whatever the reason you bought it for, it is, at least for now, an investment outperforming most others.

I bought the car to drive and I have done so thus far. I've done numerous track days and weekends in some great places including a mad dash through Wales in the rain just recently but now with the car back in the garage all polished up with new fluids and pads, for the first time I'm thinking twice about continuing with the same. I know 1) it's a first world problem, and 2) there will be people who will say just drive it, but a very real option is to save it for occasional 'nice day' trips and watch what the market does for the balance of the summer. I have a 997 that can be pressed into track duty - or I could even justify a used Caterham for my driving kicks.

I surely can't be the only F430 owner thinking along these lines? Or am I, and I should just get a grip and drive the damn thing!

I've done almost 2,000mile in mine since I bought it in nov and I've booked a 3,500mile euro road trip this summer... if I 'break even' when I sell I'll be happy. hopefully the appreciation is keeping pace with my mileage depreciation!

If I had a manual, I'd be cashing out now and buying a scuderia - the manuals are at silly money for sure.

Both Richard Median (964 RS) and Rowan Atkinson (McLaren F1) wrote about the exact issue you mention - I believe Atkinson sold his F1 as even a man of his means couldn't help put think about how much it was worth (and issues with insurance for daily driving!). Not sure if Median sold his RS, but he did write he was using it less and aware of it's value and that was ruining the experience.

It's all going to crash soon anyway apparently, so unless you cash out now its just paper value, in a few years time it will be worth as much as a leased golf R. smile

A 430 is not comparable to a 964RS or McLaren F1 in rarity.

There are far too many of them made, so just drive it and enjoy it.

No-one is suggesting it is, but if there are 'far too many of them' then why the increase in value?

You're not alone. I just bought a Nissan GT-R to get my driving fix and will leave the F430 in the garage for those special occasions.

Surely a 430 Manual is comparable rarity wise with a 964RS?

The fact that you are alive and breathing is a special occasion. The fact that you have enough disposable income to have a Ferrari is a special occasion.

Get out there and drive the damn things people!

There's a weird twist in Voicey's stats. CCM brakes seem to be at a £10k premium over steel ones again. Perhaps the possibility of CCM rotor refurbishment by Sicom is making these more attractive now?

As someone who actually put their manual 430 spider up for sale a month ago perhaps I am in a better position to give some feedback..

I had some truly amazing trade bids and was REALLY tempted to cash in, and if they had just gone that bit further I might have. But in the end what would I replace it with ? and so what if it went back down a few thousand , for long term as a V8 Manual it must be a winner.

I turned down all the offers and decided to keep it after a lovely 50 mile drive down the 272.. its a special car, for special occasions and perhaps the odd blast through Europe.

Will I lose money on what I paid 2 years ago - never , and if the market does really tank , then that just means I can buy a 308 or a 246 for sensible money, and then have 2.

Sounds like a smart decision to me. I have no intention of selling my 430, but if circumstances change, or I find something to change it up to, then I'll certainly be happier knowing that I gave the car, and my investment in it, the respect it deserves. Some things are special, and treating them as such simply adds to the enjoyment of using them when the occasion is right. That doesn't mean keeping it under wraps, I'm tracking it again in a couple weeks, but it does mean that it will probably not do another 6000 miles this year if advertised values continue on the current trajectory.

This thread is based on asking prices not sale prices so needs to be taken with a pinch of salt..... Of course it's an indication of advertised prices but these can vary massively from sold prices. Maybe asking prices are up 5% over the last few months but sale prices are down 2%.... We just don't have the information to tell.

Many dealers are sale or return so have no outlay and are happy to advertise at any price and a deal can be done when an offer is made.

Maybe prices increase, maybe they fall.

Good luck to all who buy to drive and not to invest!

personally I am waiting for the bubble to burst so I can buy at more normal prices

Hard to know for sure but I've read 2200 964rs built - if true then certainly the 430 manual is rarer...

Personally, I wouldn't know what to replace mine with - just as I won't change my manual 996tt for a 991tt, I have little interest in replacing my manual 430 spider for a 458spider (especially as no jewel case anymore) - the oldies I have are occasional drivers that are already more than fast enough for the road . More speed, automation, and electronics won't make Sunday drives or hoons any more enjoyable for me

If I ever find myself needing to do more miles or wanting a daily use supercar, that's when I'll look to change for the latest greatest

All true. A friend, who is not a serial sports car owner (but is a stunt pilot!) recently, on consecutive days, drove a mates 458 and then my Challenge Stradale. He said the 458 was very capable but the CS completely blew him away in terms of an adrenalised visceral experience! He actually described it as the Pitt Special of the roads!
