Cheers Andy long time no speakdid you get my email.
Im after a white with Carbon
Also for anyone interested I've just been going through some old mags and there's a good road test of the GTS and its rivals ( latest DB9, V8 Conti GT,M6 and CLS AMG)in issue 178 ( Jan 2013)of EVO magazine. It does rather well.
what are the other 2 OPs cars?
If this is your 3rd car I am not sure why you want a GT? Especially if you have kids.
Obviously it depends on what your other cars are, but I would be looking at a more hardcore 2 seater.
Gallardo or 430 would be my choices or perhaps 360 if you are looking for something in the same price bracket.
If you don't need those seats why have them??

Gents thanks for all the feedback, I know we all can't be driving the same cars.....but I have made up my mind and it has to be the Maser MC, seen and heard a couple driving past today..it looks good and its sounds....amazing
Now need to sell one car to make space to park the new one.....

Excellent news, they really are a special car. The Mc-Shift version will give you 95% of what you ever need/want/enjoy from a car 100% of the time. Now need to sell one car to make space to park the new one.....

Sorry, a bit late in here, but I have enjoyed this thread no end!!
I have had a 911 for 12 years and 60,000 miles and it never leaves me cold - every drive puts a smile on my face and is a new revelation and I hope I shall never be without it.
While I have no experience of the Maser, I also have a 550 Maranello, which, while not the same, is nevertheless cast in a similar mould - large, relatively heavy GT. I adore this, too, but for different reasons.
I frequently drive the 550 after the 911 and vice versa and whichever way around it happens to be, going from one to the other is never a disappointment.
They are just different cars, no more comparable than Claret and Sauternes.

mutske,
Have you pulled the trigger on an MC yet? I too had a test drive at Maserati Edinburgh a few months ago, Mike Parker was brilliant with me and very honest to deal with. I was waiting for an MC shift to come up in the spec I was looking for, but in the meantime an MC Stradale came up at a dealer down south that was too good to miss. It's a shame it didn't come through Edinburgh as I would loved to have given Mike my business!
All I can say is that you will not regret your decision with the Maserati!! I feel like a kid at Xmas each morning waiting for daylight so that I can fire it up (without giving my neighbours the best wake up call that you can get!). It is definitely a car that makes every journey feel special, a feeling that I only got in my 360 Modena (which I did consider going back to but glad I didn't as I get the positives from the Ferrari experience with the Maserati, but none of the negatives!).
I've found that on a long journey, without metering my right foot, I still get mid 20s fuel consumption which pleasantly surprised me, as I thought it would be thirstier than my last car (997 C2S) which I could only scrape into the 20s. I would say that reaction from family and friends has been more positive than for the Ferrari and much more positive than for the 911, which was important for me as I don't like to think that I'm 'rubbing peoples faces in it', but the love for the Maserati is pretty universal it seems.
I can understand why your wife might want to plump for a 911, but my opinion is that you would end up lusting after a Maser in a 911 and not the other way round. If you do get one I'll be up for a wee Maserati run when the weather gets better if you are up for it?
I'm afraid I can't give any feedback on long term running costs, but they are easier to sweep under the emotional rug when you have such a fantastic car! I'm hoping they won't be as bad as the engine rebuild costs I had with the 911; ironically I got rid of the 360 for the 911 to have a car with lower running costs; as it turns out the 911 cost the most of any car I have ever had especially when you factor in depreciation. Although an engine failure did have a big effect on that figure, so not everyone would have the same experience.
Good luck with the purchase and happy motoring!!

I just sold my Lotus Exige S in exchange for a Maserati GranTurismo S (MC) (out of a boy's toy in to a man's machine!)
FWIW, while I like and even respect porkers and beamers, German cars just don't fire me up. British/Italians have a way of fuelling my passion for driving and putting a silly grin on my face!
That said, horses for courses, as they say.

You wont be disappointed, was it the Black one at ADG by any chance ? FWIW, while I like and even respect porkers and beamers, German cars just don't fire me up. British/Italians have a way of fuelling my passion for driving and putting a silly grin on my face!

Thank you. The colour is called Magma Red, it's a pearl and I must admit it's stunning.
This video explains a lot of the differences,
http://youtu.be/ftvIyYYlAcU
A lot more planted on the road, the noise in race is quite something.
It's a pain at low speed/reverse due to throttle response, the robotic gearbox is a bit jerky below 40mph in auto but Sport and Race are paddle only. It takes a little getting use to but overal it's a fabulous car, it wasn't an easy decision but after chatting and then meeting up with a PH member who had one, I purchased the MC.
Thanks
