I think top end car sales men are pretty good at sorting out time wasters, if you are buying somthing like a Maserati, a little bit of homework should be done, don't care what anybody says about budget...if you've got £50-60k to spend your not looking to buy £20k car and vise verses, no point looking at top end stuff with bottom end budget.
Going into a dealership were the model you are looking at ranges from £15k to £80k and saying you don't know your budget rings alarm bells.
I've bought a few cars from JCT, and being a tight Yorkshire man, I wouldn't be going back if they weren't any good.

I doubt anyone in the network can be sick of that yet! Hardly a great order bank for them yet
Really? I would have thought that there would be a decent initial burst of orders for this, especially given its competitive pricing

But if you have a problem after the sale you need to involve the DP to get it resolved as I am finding out....

If that's the case you'll be in good hands.

Well it is still taking a long time and after sales customer service should not be focused solely on the boss - how many sales organisations would continue to exist if that was the case? Sign of a poorly run shop I'm afraid ....

Told this tale before, but I'll tell it again......

Several years ago we were in a Mercedes dealership in Manchester ordering Mrs WR her new car....

As we were about to sign up, through the office window I caught a glimse of an unshaven man wander in wearing tee shirt and trainers.

I remarked to the salesman "I suppose you get a lot of guys like him in here wasting your time"....

He replied dryly. "Oh, that's Roy Keane here to pick up his £100,000 car"...(A weeks wages)....

Taught me a lesson......biggrin

That's one of the reasons that I had doubts about the veracity of the opening post from the start. We get a lot of athletes in, many African American, some making over $1m a month (contracts are public) and they are invariably dressed fairly scruffily. If you sell high end cars you get used to that and you definitely do not judge a book by the cover. However, a few minutes qualifying will usually tell you what you've got. I have no doubt that the salesman in this case qualified the op and quickly realized that he had under 20k to spend and was in the wrong place. The op (who seems to have disappeared) pretty much confirmed that later on and this whole thread was started under false pretenses.

My dad picked up his Ferrari California today from JCT600 in Leeds which is a joint Maserati dealership - which I believe is the same dealership the OP is talking about.

I find what you say hard to believe OP.

We were delivered outstanding service upon entering this morning which even resulted in a tour of the dealership.

We were treated like royalty and I very much doubt that they treated you like st unless you were being a bit funny with them.

Agree 100%. I sold a new 911 Turbo to a guy that had scruffy jeans and a polo shirt complete with paint and plaster on. He pitched up in a shagged Volvo 850 estate that was on it's bumpstops where it was so full of crap. Within a couple of minutes I knew that he was a proper customer and was part way through building a barn conversion.

You don't need to spend hours with someone to find out if they're a potential buyer or not. And any salesman worth their salt will quickly discover this, and if they can't help most of the time they'll point the customer in the direction of someone that can. Which is what the salesman in this case did...

I have been today and even though it is very clear to them that I have no intention to change car until April at the earliest, they did nothing wrong and more than enough to keep themselves on my list of potential supplying dealers when I do change

Only 1 sales guy in this afternoon and he managed to deal with the trickle of customers that came in without any trouble. No one went away to write a post here like OP, I am quite sure of that.

Had a look at the Ghibli Diesel - nice enough and, as £50k exec cars go, it looks like it would do the job. Clearly that is the one that they are expecting to sell most of, but I think the petrol S variant would be much more fun...

Talked about newer GranTurismos, up to and including the bones of a deal on a new one that is sitting in the showroom. Likely that will be too much for SWMBO to agree to, but I have a good idea of what to look for (an MY13 GranTurismo Auto S) when I am ready to roll.

I was in there today and despite rocking up in my 8year old A4 daily slogger the sales guy was helpful, friendly and still happy to show me a car which I stated was about 30k more than my original budget! (& I ideally won't be ready until after 5th April etc) Now I'm doing the man maths on part financing this car.
2 year factory warranty is tempting and depending on what a potential buy back figure I get if I need out may swing the deal.

Was a very pleasant experience! Almost too good! I'm struggling to talk myself out of it!

Not sure if this is the right section, but couldn't find an Italian section of the forum to rant in.

Just been to Maserati in Leeds. I've been toying with the idea of a Quattroporte. This is a pretty big deal for me and I really want to savour the experience.

Walked in and asked if they had any used ones in stock. Was directed to a rude salesman that didn't really want to know me at all. Granted, I was vague and am unsure of which car I want exactly.

I got very little out of the guy. I even asked if all interiors were the same because the used example was a GTS. I wondered if it had sportier seats. The rsponse I received was "they're all different". That was it.

I went over to the car and tried to open the door. I received "they're all locked". Again, that was it. I had to then ask permission to have a look inside. With a grunt, the salesman walked off, followed by a beep of central locking some time later.

I'd like to point out that I've also been to the Manchester branch, which has now given up on Maserati. They were great. They had no stock, but took the time to sit with me and run through options and ideas.

Anyone got any ideas of where would be better for me to try?

Leeds was a horrible experience.
You need to visit the newly opened Maserati Centre near Preston run by Bowker Motor Group. First class company who will help you out.
Ps I don't work there just love the company and its non mainstream dealership outlook towards its customers.

I was treated like crap by a flash young salesman when looking for a new M3, I was dressed smartly at the time. Bought one from someone else instead.
I was treated very well when I bought a 911 Turbo and subsequently an F430, both times I'd walked in after work dressed scruffily and the salesmen didn't miss a beat, both superb. I never wear a watch.

Although thinking about it, I did arrive at the F dealer in the Turbo so that probably gave them a tiny clue!

Like I said earlier, we sell to a lot of athletes who are invariably young and scruffily dressed. You don't judge a book by it's cover. If you have any nous a couple of minutes of qualifying chat will usually tell you if you have a bell end or a buyer.
