Gallardo Tyres
Discussion
http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/tyres-for-car/lamborgh... Interesting that they reccomend a different brand for front and rear, is that common, also the front and rear are different tyre references, I assumed it would be same tyre regardless
The Gransport supposedly takes the same tyres as the Gallardo, when I looked at my sizes online the Lambo specific tyre was the option I went with.
I looked at BlackCircles.com, then phoned my local ProTyre (who I've used for years) who are a Blackcircles fitting centre.
They undercut BC by a couple of quid.
I think the fronts were £202.
Working it out a pence per mile, saving a few quid on tyres is nothing compared to the fuel. When it comes to things that keep me from the ground, tyres, shoes, carpets, mattresses, parachutes, I don't scrimp. Even the 23 year old Carina runs on Toyos, though at 85 quid a pair and 12k from the fronts, they're not breaking the bank

The Gallardos drivetrain is designed to work with Pirelli tyres only, using other tyre brands (even premium brands) such as Michelin which are regarded as better tyres in many respects are not designed to work with the cars driveline.
The tyres will seem fine at first but soon the differentials will start to become noisy (not a pleasant sound) you can quieten it down a bit using a diff aditive but it will only last so long
In my opinion it is not worth skimping on tyres or even not skimping and using a different brand due to ill effects further down the line!

do the differentials read the tyre sidewalls, or do they communicate directly with the suppliers ?The tyres will seem fine at first but soon the differentials will start to become noisy (not a pleasant sound) you can quieten it down a bit using a diff aditive but it will only last so long

Not Gallardo specfic but we've had very good experience using Bridgestone RE050 on the Ford GT to replace the OE Goodyear F1 Supercar tyres.
Improved wear and grip in both wet and dry.

Sorry but thats not really true. Thats what Lamborghini tried to tell me when I had noisy diffs, a bit of additive and the problem goes away. One of my old Gallardo's had the noisy diff problem and it had been run on Pirelli's all it's life. Another Gallardo I had, I put Michelins on, I never had this problem. Although I would say, the Pirelli's seemed to have a lot more grip. The tyres will seem fine at first but soon the differentials will start to become noisy (not a pleasant sound) you can quieten it down a bit using a diff aditive but it will only last so long
