We have one on order and it should be with us (December 2014 or early 2015) but the dealer did say there are rumours of an M version and a spider???
I just don't see how they could make a soft top and it look anywhere near as good....so much of the styling is about the shape of the rear buttress.

An M probably depends on how much they can really turn the wick up on the power ? That might be very difficult and very expensive given the tech....or might be sodding easy in a couple of years with the rate electric motors and batteries tech improves.

Damn, that's quite a lengthy lead time. When did you order it?

Tough call, and a good question.

It is a major social downgrade from a Ferrari badge to a BMW badge.

And the i8 is slower than a 430.

But the i8 is a newer, pretty'ish car, especially in black, with the added theatre of the scissor doors.

And the i8 is a peek into the hybrid future (rightly or wrongly, that is where things are headed for now).

Personally, if I had to buy a Bimmer, I'd be tempted to wait for a faster "i8s" or "i9" model to be released. The 0-60mph time would really need to duck under 3.5secs, ideally under 3.0secs, to get majorly excited about it.
I don't think the i8 is that much slower than a f430... Check this:
http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-reviews/first-driv...

0-100 mph in 9.4s..

When I test drove it, it felt as torquey as my aston v12v.

No I wouldn't.

I would wait and get what I have already ordered to replace my GTR...

For a (partially) electric supercar to rival Italian exotica, I'd want it too look significantly cooler than this.

It's too BMW

It's just a 6 series with some aftermarket tat on, no?

I want this:

In my books the original M1 was a proper exotica. The i8 is way more outlandish looks-wise.. Whilst still keeping reasonable dimensions.

So, if I understand it correctly, if you own a company and pay your self say £100k to buy a car, then you pay 40% tax on that £100k. Whereas if you let the company buy the car, then you pay BIK instead. The BIK in the following 3 years are 5%, 9%, 11%, totalling 25% of the £100k. So you save 15% tax.

Is that right, or is there more to BIK than that?
