To be honest, your brother was not the only cock there as I saw plenty.

saw some shocking antics today, people sitting on bonnets, leaning on wings, kids rubbing up and down the sides... even caught one women jamming her teddys into the bonnet vents on a F12 for a picture, my car had got a couple of child size hand prints about half way up the bonnet, dread to think how that happened! mad

Some folks really should be kept in a cage out of the public eye!!

A fabulous day with me and my mate astounded by the general low key, easy going nature being offered by organisers and owners with the public able to wander about and get up close to some serious Ferrari's.
We both stood in awe inches from the F1 cars as they were fettled and ran up.

We were also 'gob smacked' to see 3 LaFerrari's However nothing was more shocking than than witnessing quite a few morons lack of consideration and basic lack of respect with smacks of 'dragged up not brought up' !!! Most notable was a tool hanging his head around Matts red LaF delicate mirror having his pic taken and a young lad with his Dad - lad jumps in the Speciale (showroom) still wearing his zippy rucksack then proceeds to shove it through the open window banging and rubbing it on the paintwork. Not a word from Pappa!!

A shocking day some of it not good.......

I was one of the two PA commentators this weekend and what a fabulous weekend it was - I never thought I would get the chance to commentate on contemporary Formula 1 machinery on track, let alone stand next to them as they fired up in their pit garages. An excellent experience - many thanks to Ferrari and all the owners and racers for making it so enjoyable.

-adds F12 Berlinetta to lottery/fantasy garage-

With the amount of £ there in the carpark, couldn't a security guard or two have been provided to hopefully keep a lid on things?

The lack of respect for other peoples property was indeed depressing today. But what always astonishes me is the ignorance displayed by Ferrari dealer staff when it comes to 'dusting down' cars for display. The black La Ferrari received a vigorous rub down with a dry dirty cloth at about 9:30 this morning. Unbelievable.

Sounds like some of the bigger carshows are starting to attract some bad eggs.

I heard the RS event a few weeks ago was marred by people dipping stuff from engines, etc.

Found hand prints today all over the doors and bonnet, scuffed front left wing behind the shield, scuffs on front bumper. I haven't checked the airVents for teddy bear detritus. Depressing.

Also the disabled viewing platform in the Ferrari stand became a crèche for out of control kids and pushchairs. A genuine user of the area for it's intended purpose, and their helper, did not have the easiest of times accessing it and none of the brats/parents offered the helper a seat. Disgusting.

Fwiw, we had a great day and I didn't witness anyone getting 'too close' to the cars although I absolutely take the previous poster's words for it. The new cars in the showroom were a different story though, more of a case of 'take a picture of me on your phone whilst I sit in each car...'

to be fair, I went on the Saturday and it appeared to be a totally different scenario, people were well behaved, no little bds up to mischief as far as I could see and it wasn't to busy

not sure why it was so busy on the Sunday though... hmmm

this business of sitting on bonnets, leaning on wings and "hugging" cars for photographs has just got ridiculous in recent years

silverstone/ferrari yesterday was, sadly, no different to many other public events

Had a great day out, some fabulous machines on display.

Agree with the above comments on the relaxed atmosphere and being able to get up close to the cars in the pits.

Also agree with the above regarding some people having no respect for the cars they had come to have view. Numerous times as I was taking pictures I heard the clunk of someone's jacket hitting a car or people leaning on a rear wing etc etc.

As much as it was nice to get close to these cars, I think perhaps a barrier of some kind needs to be put up such as the ones around the LaFerrari. A long continuous one. I imagine this would to deter most, without causing issues for people taking photos.

I don't understand the obsession of people leaning on cars like they own them anyway, just incredibly rude and inappropriate.

Also to note, this was Men, Women & Children. Mainly men with Children as it happens, not sure if this is a bravado thing?

That's the reason I give these events a wide berth now. A friend had a bonnet vent stolen a couple of years ago from a show at Silverstone. The lack of respect shown by an increasing number of people these days is depressing....

I havent checked my 360 over yet and I attended both days. I suspose one of the advantages of not having a rare model was that mine didnt attract much attention ( i think ... although I didnt actually stay in the car park long).

I would say though if i was the owner of the f50 or f40s or the 599gto etc, i would have probably asked for a them to be cordoned off for safety. Sorry to be nasty but way way to many scum bags on Sunday.

No doubt for some reason the Sunday was less Ferrari owners there but a hell of a lot more general public. Like others have posted, it wasnt just families with kids, it was fat adults that were behaving badly leaning against the f50 etc.

I think with events of this size, time has come for the rarer cars to be behind a fence of some sort.

Sunday avo the F1 cars were effectively broken down so couldnt do the final run, which was a shame.
the 458 challenges were wild, some serious spins and slides, a very entertaining final race.

PistonHeads held a Sunday Service event at the venue, so maybe that explains the class of visitor and their level of respect for other peoples exotica??

Peoples lack of respect coupled with the camera phone = only only one outcome.

Don't think it should apply to just "rarer" cars. IMO it should be all the cars on display. If they're willing to bring down their car for people to enjoy and marvel. Then why should they have it damaged, slobbered over or leant on just so some idiot can have their picture taken with it.

It'll get to a point when nobody will bring their cars to these events because of the minority of idiots doing this, because its only small proportion that I noticed doing it. Infact, two kids, their Guardian for the day (father?) and an unrelated woman.

Shame.
