I brought my LHD 599 GTO ans 16M back to UK from Switzerland. On both cars you can't adjust the headlights and have to buy new units at around 6k per car. The 16M also had a speedo only in kmh so a whole new instrument pod neede, about 3k. Then cert of conformity about 550 per car. My 288 was also obviously LHD. And I have a Ford GT also LHD.
whatever

Fully endorse what others have said. Do your diligence, be prepared for paperwork process (although pretty straightforward once you have worked it out) and accept there is extra work and some costs to get it on the road (transport/fun journey to pick up, speedo, MOT). Sourcing and getting my CS on the road in the UK has been a bit if a fun project.

I'm more than happy with LHD in the UK (CS joins my LHD 308) and the bonus is they are great when you go on a Euro trip.

Pleased to read the positive vibes in this topic, I currently have a LHD 360 Spider in Dubai that I will probably repatriate to the UK after a year or two here.

I got it for a rock bottom price here so good to know that I'll likely not lose much if I import and then eventually sell in the UK.

Different ball game and set of numbers as you will have import duty and vat to pay.
And it's not really special enough like a scud or strad

No VAT or import duty for me as I'll have owned the car for longer than 6 months
What I will have though are the SVA costs for road registering the car in the UK but I don't believe them to be too onerous for mine (the speedo reads MPH and KPH for example)

If you get the certificate of conformity from Ferrari then you'll also avoid SVA.

Yep.. I'm really hoping that I can get one... the car was originally supplied to Japan so I could be in for some fun!

I did look into it as well - not a prob on Strad as it can be adjusted...

But Scud, you need a new pair of headlights (there is currently a pair on eBay for quite cheap), who cares if it's the wrong color: just to pass the MOT/UK reg.

As for speedo you can use an inlay or sticker, cheap fix

Egham did mine...they took the pictures, wrote the report, etc. and then sent away the application to Italy.
Took something like 4/5 weeks indeed and GBP550 from memory

OK... Just spoke to Jack at import mycarimport.co.uk who happened to have 2 Scuds in for import today. He kindly explained how to flatten the beam for the headlights on any 430. Remove both wheels and then the wheel arch covers. Reach through and feel for the back of the light where you will find a 'slider'. Move it to the opposite side and there you have it, UK compliant headlights. He did say he's usually charges and hours labour but kindly let me have that one for free...

Kph to Mph speedo update £79 for the part (more for the labour to fit) - http://www.clusterrepairsuk.co.uk/kmh-to-mph-dials...

Tell the dealer in Paris to do it for you. So we now know new headlights are not needed.

How do we know that?
I spoke to 2 dealers before getting new lights, they both said 16m (and so I assume Scud) is not adjustable and needs new lights. But maybe Jack is also correct.

As for instrument cluster, on my 16m there was no digital inset readout, only the analogue speedo dial which was not dual calibrated. A sticker isn't appropriate for ths sort of car, and you would want the digital odometer to read in miles not kms, ergo new dashpod
