I brought my LHD 599 GTO ans 16M back to UK from Switzerland. On both cars you can't adjust the headlights and have to buy new units at around 6k per car. The 16M also had a speedo only in kmh so a whole new instrument pod neede, about 3k. Then cert of conformity about 550 per car. My 288 was also obviously LHD. And I have a Ford GT also LHD.

How do we know that?
I spoke to 2 dealers before getting new lights, they both said 16m (and so I assume Scud) is not adjustable and needs new lights. But maybe Jack is also correct.
As for instrument cluster, on my 16m there was no digital inset readout, only the analogue speedo dial which was not dual calibrated. A sticker isn't appropriate for ths sort of car, and you would want the digital odometer to read in miles not kms, ergo new dashpod
Id want the odo to stay in km to tally with the history of the car.I spoke to 2 dealers before getting new lights, they both said 16m (and so I assume Scud) is not adjustable and needs new lights. But maybe Jack is also correct.

Im glad we are all in agreement that for "toys for using" the best option is Europe. Im def going to Germany for my next purchase, aided by the Mrs being German will ensure I get everything done correctly. Frankly I am thinking i would even consider a private purchase depending on what the toy is... if a scud then perhaps i would stick to a dealer only. I look forward to seeing all the LHD cars arround London like back in 2000 when 40% of Fezzas on the street were left hookers

Otherwise it looks messy to my ocd eyes, with a sticker over the speedo and odo in km but speedo in mph. Horses for courses

You need a receipt from a VAT registered garage staying they have carried out the required modifications. If you have a friend with such a garage you can avoid mucking up or replacing the speedo unit!
Isnt that a bit dodgy!!!! lol...andrew said:

Isnt that a bit dodgy!!!! lol...To be honest it's such a daft requirement - wasn't a requirement on my LHD 993RS or 550M.

So... Nearing the end of the import procesd for my Scuderia. Had the car in with HR Owen in Chelsea for a health check (even though the car came from Paris main dealer its good to get a second UK dealer view on the car). Thankfully it got a clean bill of health and the stereo & nav set for UK for good measure.
Reason im sharing is that they covered all the labour & inspection time plus sorting the stereo foc! A very refreshing start to a dealer relationship i thought (normally these places want to pull your pants down given the chance).

How did you handle the headlights in the end, is there a switch?Reason im sharing is that they covered all the labour & inspection time plus sorting the stereo foc! A very refreshing start to a dealer relationship i thought (normally these places want to pull your pants down given the chance).
