You need a receipt from a VAT registered garage staying they have carried out the required modifications. If you have a friend with such a garage you can avoid mucking up or replacing the speedo unit!

Gents, do we have a definitive factual answer for the LHD to RHD light conversion question, I'm also getting contradicting info...I have a small holding deposit on a LHD Scud but I'm starting to go cold on the idea...thanks for any help

The definitive factual answer is anything that enables uk registration - clearly as frequently noted eg here 30/9 & 1/10 there are several ways of achieving this - conversely if you are unsure or unconvinced worst case is five grand of new lights and factor that into your overall cost

if you blew the 5k on new lights, what's to stop you selling them on once you've jumped through the hoop ?

so even if you get lucky with the paperwork to get the car into the uk, you've still got these ongoing questions...

This thread is funny. I already posted how it works for a scud (well 16m) and a 599 gto. You've no choice, you pay for rhd lights.

It's like the secret service on here, nobody gives a straight answer...probably because the don't know the answer, however, plus another one to the above wink

Probably leaving them as LHD lights and getting a dodgy MOT done

As you all have been told before : LHD lights + sticker is permissible for MOT provided the light pattern remains acceptable - it is not permissible for initial UK registration of LHD cars less than ten years old - exciting form can be downloaded and read here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/applica... - hence Andrew's Nov 12 post....

Just remove the headlights before you put it through the MOT. They can't fail it on headlights if there aren't any on the vehicle....
- I didn't believe this either, but it's true!

alternatively you could use a masking kit

I think its unlikely an MOT would find light direction to be an issue as its just height right?
