I am looking to buy a murcielago roadster (EITHER PRE- OR LP640) in a bright colour
The main , actually the sole other , criterion is that the car needs to be in genuinely good condition , with no accompanying stories
Any leads?

Still looking ....

The black one for £150 looks a good car? I know you wanted a bright colour but there aren't many around ... A few black and white for sale and I haven't seen a bright one since I bought mine 2 and a half years ago

Have you had word with HROwen or Sevenoaks to see of they have some clients trading for the Hurican

Hi will hope your enjoying it, unfortunately I don't get out in mine much but whilst for a second or two earlier this year I thought of living without it, I didn't think there's anything I could replace it with that would make me smile as much....whilst there will always be more technically better cars made year on year ....our engines date back to the Birth of the marque...sadly the Aventador has had to start from a new point, which technically isn't a bad thing, clearly the car is rapid, but it is lacking in having that unique history I kind of like !

All the best,.

When my car goes in for its service, I'll ask them about any possible cars coming to market.

Hi mark

I don't use mine much, but like you said, when you do, there is nothing to compare it with,
Can't think of what to replace it with if I did move on(other than an LP)
Carlo thinks there is about 8 or 9 std roadsters, and a few more LPs,
So it's looking like there is less than 20 in the country

hi will

thanks for summarising the uk murcie roadster situation

I know the orange VVS roadster very well---it is a very good car at a very good dealer , and may well have been the one, had fate not intervened and decreed otherwise

mark's car is of course lovely---I lusted after it when it was advertised 3 years ago by tom Hartley, but I was not in a position to move at that stage

I do not know you Will, or your car, but I hope that you are both thoroughly enjoying each other

I saw jon's old car at the cliveden do about 3 years ago , and it too was very nice

sometimes these old cars sit around , unknown to the outside world, waiting for a new owner.

14 years ago, I was after a one owner countach, and I was told, repeatedly and definitively, that such a car did not exist in the uk
The only other person who kept faith in this unpromising mission was Jason Barker, who was at that time the sole salesman at the then Lamborghini London
I was totally over-joyed when he finally succeeded , but it took him 3 years
(the sole previous owner had had 5 countachs, and the factory offered him the choice of a 25th anniversary or a 88 1/2 ; and each of these with or without the wing at no extra cost----he chose the 88 1/2 without the wing )
we had got to know each other well by then , and I think it was his last sale for LL, and he just charged the SOR price plus £800 for transport and insurance !!
Thank-you Jason--I still owe you more than one , and wish you well
And here's hoping that history will repeat itself

hi again mark
you are quite right in appreciating your lp640's historic engine , but don't forget its space-frame chassis (the murcie does have a space-frame does it not?)

my wife and I had lunch with valentino balboni in july 2013 , and he tells a lovely story of bizzarinni massaging the power and torque figures for the prototype engine

equally as special , was meeting up with signor marchesi in june 2014 just outside Modena.
Marchesi is now in his 80's , and each countach spaceframe was handbuilt in his factory--2 spaceframes were hand-welded each week, by a group of 14 men

To my mind, these hand-welded chassis are just as special as those iconic engines

thanks both, once again, for your responses

I know it isn't what you're looking for, but there is an '07 LP640 roadster coming up for auction at BCA on the 27th October.

It is black and judging by the condition report in not very good nick (vehicle grade 4, 26 scratches/dents picked up on).

It is still advertised on the S cars in Oldham website for £ 140k.

It will be interesting to see how much it fetches.

Just read the condition report on this one. Sounds like it may have been an ex-rental car in the past. Just about every area of the car is either scratched, scuffed or dented. If it goes cheap enough at auction it could still be a good buy for someone prepared to rectify the faults.

the one at s cars has been in the auction a couple times, not sure if it got pulled at the last minute or did not meet reserve, they have had it up previously for £129k then put it up £10k

will

PS
my car is jons old one, he has had two though, mine and another one with a lp front bumper and rear lights which now resides in scotland.also aware that al has a pearl white one,

will yellow original
al white original
vvs orange original
scotland yellow original
mark orange lp 640
s cars black lp 640
vvs black lp 640
ph member white lp 640
furlonger black original
berkley white lp640 ( not sure if this is the ph member car, this has a rear spoiler, don't think the other did?)

if anyone could add to the list it would be good, i think we are only looking for another 5 or 6 cars

5 for sale at the moment, that must be a record?

It's funny I went out to buy an LP640 and I was due to look at this car the black one at scars and they sent me over the service paperwork and it was missing the first and probably the most important service of them all, plus after more digging found that in fact is used for hire car.

I was due to Tom Hartleys in the morning then S-cars a little later.....so pleased I didn't get passed the Tom Hartley showroom smile

In fairness I was willing to give the s-cars car a look but there wasn't many facts coming from the dealer to ease your confidance ....... If the first two years had a troublesome owner and then after there was an engine was overhauled and then serviced every year after you could forgive the historic first owner (at a discounted value of courses) but on that occasion there wasn't a chance in the world that car was ending in my garage.

The is also a orange one with brown interior to add to the list for sale on autotrader however that car also (rumoured) to be a hire car ....but in an (hire) event the hirer had a youtube crash moment ......

I am lucky to have the perfect car for me and I'm sure you patience will once again be rewarded.

this thread is turning out to be very useful , as it is beginning to provide concrete numbers for uk murcie roadsters , which in turn means that a potential buyer can then decide what the chances of finding a decent car are

joyzipper and atlantisweb--thamks for the 640 tip--but I don't think that this is the car for me

as you say there are quite a number of murcie roadsters on the PH sales site just now , and some of these have been on offer for a long time now

the very good cars ,like Mark's and Jon's old car, have been intensely scrutinised by fastidious potential owners prior to purchase as Mark describes above, and are already in private hands, and are not likely to be sold again anytime soon

A less than good car is a time-bomb, and clearly, just not worth the bother

What I have learnt from this thread is that I am unlikely to find a decent murcie roadster in a bright colour.
Which in turn means , waiting for an aventador to come within reach OR just being very happy with my 355

my wife and I were at Cliveden in august, on the day that the ppi was being done on the murcie roadster with black wheels, that I was keen on
that morning, when I drew back the curtains, there was a beautiful white aventador with black wheels and red callipers parked in the courtyard
I had previously never liked white cars , and had abhorred black wheels , but this car was just stunning.
Black wheels were just that much more acceptable after seeing this aventador

Will and Mark , keep enjoying your lovelies

There was a purple (wrapped white) RHD manual Roadster written off a couple of years ago. So one less on the UK list.

Hi carspath

Take your time in choosing the car you want
, however, you will have to be mindful that there is only 15/16 to pick from and most are know.
Reading between the lines, mark looks vulnerable and he may sell his(little bit of bait)
It took me two yeas to choose, find and buy mine, so patience is the key
The orange one at vvs looks good though

You can't help but enjoy a murcie roadster( what's not to enjoy?)

I do a bit of "work" for sporting bears, if you are ever at carfest, hunt me down and I will take you for a spin

My claim to fame!!!!

dear stain, f1ten and will, thanks for your replies

f1ten and will , thanks for the offer of a ride--something I would like to take up one day, and supporting the ''bears'' is always good
believe it or not, I've only ever driven 2 murcies, and then only for about 5-10 minutes each, on the same day---as you say , what's not to like
having said that , if I were ever to be invited onto mastermind, my chosen topic would have to be either countach or murcielago---and that may be the root cause of my problems

I buy to keep very long-term, and I think that this fact made me more OCD than the average punter, maybe too much more so.
Having found one I wanted, I tried to sort out the issues that any second hand car is bound to have.
There were significant peripheral issues , but these were easily overcome with good-will on both sides.

PPI'ed
4 x 400 mile round trips to see the car
Paid for it
My pretty hand-writing all over the service book!!
All stops pulled out by the dealer to have car delivered to my house bang on time ,exactly as agreed.
PX 355 sitting on the driveway ready to go
Small issue which led to the car being incontinent and shutting itself down on arrival
I totally panicked , and threw the toy out of the pram (my wife's words !!)--- definitely my bad, as they say.
( when the average age of the cars you are used to is 21 years old, with the oldest being 26, and the youngest into double figures, these new-fangled contraptions with e-gear etc are quite frightening to a Luddite)

so there you have it
in some ways I feel that I have experienced murcie ownership already
it would be a fair criticism of me, to say that I should have been prepared for small issues with a second-hand lambo , purely through having owned a countach for 14 years , and I would be the first to say that sympathy and apologies should rightly go to the dealer....but there is no accounting for panicking when faced with a dashboard rainbow

so I am now looking into this new-fangled Aventador thing
no doubt it will have even more dashboard lights to frighten me with
the nice thing with the countach, is that the only electronic part of any cost is the ignition box , and you can set your watch by when it needs replacement--every 12 years. (currently on the 3rd box , and this time its a msd unit and not a marelli , so here's hoping for greater longevity)
sadly Will , the funds for it will definitely not be available for this x'mas or the next , but they tell me its the journey and not the destination that counts
