The Ferrari drivers were probably embarrassed. That MGB V8 looks awesome and I bet you have way more fun in that.
respect to the MGB
They were wearing full race suits, I felt a little ashamed turning up in jeans..

This looks pretty quick to me, a 360 so not as quick as the yellow car in the first Vid. All about the drivers I say.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Ferrari drivers were corporate, I've done a few track days with Ferrari and seldom does someone turn up in a rompa suit unless they really want the piss taken out of them.

You are a legend aren't you? You'd beat all the cars in a transit and would easily spin around the 'ring in substantially less than 10 minutes. Can I have your autograph please?

Funny you mentioned that, a mgb is being designed and prepared to take the challenge of driving the fastest lap around the Nurburgring in a road legal car! its being called MGB GT3.....

Why don't you just put a pair of MG headlamps and a front grill in the passenger seat of a fast car and take that round?

We had a 550 bhp sunbeam tiger and similarly powered MGB in the intermarque last year. Very quick cars and cheap as chips. They were band for this year however, the Chris Scragg 1970s V8 Vantage still comes out to play with probably 650+. Epic fun, but my big standard 355 challenge eats them for breakfast in the wet.

Interesting.

Given how important 'ring times are for ever single sportscar/supercar manufacturer from a marketing point of view I would be very surprised if a that thing was quicker around the 'ring than say a P1,918, Zonda, LaFerrari, etc etc etc.

And when I say 'surprised' I mean totally and utterly fking amazed.

Your car sounds great, and no doubt goes well too. However I think you've been sniffing too many of your own exhaust fumes if you really believe a rover-engined mg would be quicker around a track than that car!

Obviously the Ferrari should be the quickest by a long way, but when you take into consideration the different levels of technology I believe that this MGB is the more remarkable car. After all it has a heavy solid axle flopping around on cart springs and has its design roots in the 50's.
Don't get me wrong the Ferrari is a very nice car and yes I would like one but all the effort and skill gone into making the mg that fast in my book makes it a supercar too.

Careful you'll be upsetting the R8 owners.....

Still struggling to understand the point of this thread...

OP seems more obsessed about proving some kind of point, which is as yet unknown, when no one is really disputing the fact that modified cars can be faster than supercars.

I'd expect a mildly tuned Ford Focus ST to be faster than a 360 point to point, but I don't imagine many people would have one on their bedroom wall.

And that's really the point. Comparing cars in pure speed and acceleration terms only misses the bigger picture. I'm sure the OP's car feels super to him, but a supercar, a dream car, it is not.

I think a lot of people miss the bigger picture. Not just comparing speed and acceleration but handling and the looks. see what people are saying about this one.

I am just quite pleased that I do the same entry speeds into the corners in my old bmw track car.. However.. I get to about 110 after camp, they are are 140..

As for the OP, I have (in my 325) kept up and gone past GTRs etc.. However they ([possibly] like this guy) were not giving the full beans and/or just learning the track or just being careful.. (There is little run off at combe). Normally on Combe on the limits the rear ends tend to be a bit looser (especially around tower) and I didn't see that on here.

They both look like they are enjoying themselves, that's all that matters surely?

The MGB is clearly a very well developed race car, not sure there's much MGB left mind.

Once in the Cgt at spa i had this guy in a 997 gt3 rs go past me a couple of times .later obviously he couldn't see which way the Cgt went . I hadnt even registered this until I was upstairs at lunch time having a coffee when he was telling his friends about the black Cgt and its two drivers , how one was st and the other was his instructor . I didn't have the heart to tell him there was one driver and I was on cool down laps when he overtook ...
I just let them take the Mickey out of the "rich tt" in his Cgt

There's plenty of home made cheap tat quicker than Ferrari's on track, especially when the F is on road tyres, my own track car for one, OP, unclear what point you're trying to make? was that the first time you've come across an Ferrari on a track day, as I'm sure you understand there's so many unknown variables when trying to compare relative performance of cars on a TD, apparently the driver in front is a complete novice...
My point I was trying to make is a 40 year old car can match a modern Ferrari on track and yes the MGB was using road tyres....
So that is a stock MG as it left the factory? How much of the car is 40 years old ?

Exactly my point about so many variables. Track days are more about bar room willy waving storys rather than a true test of driver and equipment.

A few years ago at Spa you was in the pit next door with your CGT, regretted not asking for a passenger lap ever since...frown
