The Ferrari smashed the MG in that clip, on the straights the MG was outclassed (not unexpected) and the Ferrari owner pulled over at the end to let the MG pass.
Nice clip though, I once had an Vauxhall Nova that was faster than a Ferrari upto 120mph but it was still just a small car with a big engine
Likewise, watching a VW Golf 1.9d pull away from my Ferrari on an Autocar test day was a lump in the throat moment.

There's plenty of home made cheap tat quicker than Ferrari's on track, especially when the F is on road tyres, my own track car for one, OP, unclear what point you're trying to make? was that the first time you've come across an Ferrari on a track day, as I'm sure you understand there's so many unknown variables when trying to compare relative performance of cars on a TD, apparently the driver in front is a complete novice...

My point I was trying to make is a 40 year old car can match a modern Ferrari on track and yes the MGB was using road tyres....bish1963 said:

Plenty of modified cars are faster than standard supercars, particularly older ones. This is not a revelation to anyone, nor does it invalidate their purchase. I'm not quite sure why you think it would or should. kbooker said:
To be fair all the footage shows is you and your car (I'm assuming you're reasonably experienced on track) slowly catching a Ferrari that's being driven cautiously by a lady driver on her first Track Day...;)
The event was for charity giving passenger rides out for people who wanted the experience, all drivers had to be experience for safety of passengers, but hey don't worry the Ferrari drivers didn't want to give the passengers any thrills, just wanted to spit and polish there cars.... bish1963 said:

Has the OP got form then? Because I don't see any 'banging on' here. Just wall to wall sense of humour failure.The only true measure of the pace between Classics and modern car's is by actual lap times. I went past a Silk Cut Jaguar Le Mans car at Donington Park on a track day in a normally aspirated Lotus Exige once, only once tho he made me look like I was going backward after that.
Show me the official lap times and I'd be more impressed! It's more about drivers than car's on track days.

The only people gloating were my passengers I took around for the experience, they were buzzing and were thrilled to pieces and couldn't thank me enough, it was them who were shocked at how slow Ferrari's were on the day...
