Stop it you git! smile

It's not going to happen Carl, it's just not going to happen.

Baby Supercars I'm comfortable with, the big boys are a step too far.

I've always been able to afford and enjoy the cars I've owned, they've been a pleasure without the pressure. The Aventador would be right on my limit, no safety zone.
As much as I'd like to turn up at Sainsburys in the beast and say "Hop in Carl" I know sooner or later it would bite me in the arse.

Besides, the 650s can match it in performance and the Huracan is just as gorgeous to look at, so who needs it?

In another few years things may be different but for now I'll stay in my zone and hang on to my kidneys.

smile

Similar scenario as me recently, I fancied a Huracan but asked myself the question of which would cost me more to own over 12-18 months. A brand new Huracan or used Aventador. Aventador will be warranted so no concern there, so it's down to running costs and residuals.
Not sure what peoples thoughts are on residuals but I don't think it'll be as strong on the Huracan as the Aventador but tbh I've not really got a clue. I'm guessing if you're like me and only keep your cars for 12 months there will be little difference between the two on overall cost.

Thats what I was just about to post... if you buy the right Aventador isn't it going to be cheaper than the Huracan anyway ?

I feel that if resale value / ease of moving it on is any concern, then this one would be a big mistake.

Very nice exterior colour.

One of the UK press cars was quite bright!

I must be in the minority I prefer the darker colours, callipers in a brighter colour. Interior grey or black in alcantara. Overall stunning.

You're looking at a 2011 Aventador to get even near to Huracan money and that'll shortly be a 4 year old car. Low mileage no doubt but kepp it for a few years and it is starting to get long in the tooth.
As you say it probably won't take any more of a hit than the Huracan though.

Aventador will be lot more to run day to day than Gallardo/Huracan, difference shocked me a bit as my 560 was I thought very reasonable to run by comparison.

Huracan is also a lot better car in every way except wow factor. The Aventador is a bit of a dog in a lot of ways unless your really going for it, but there is just something about it that makes you forgive it, it gives you envy and is special.

Someone else summed it up pretty on the Lambo forum:

"I said it many times before, if u treat the aventador as a car, its the worst car ever, but if u treat it like a f-16, its the smoothest easiest jet ever to pilot around town.
The aventador is the worst acting car i ever drove and that may even include the early stick shifting CCRs, but i dont know why its the car i love the most !
But i would never keep one out of warranty though"

The early cars had a lot of issues that they don't seem to now, lots of gremlins and very bouncy suspension. I loved mine but it constantly had niggles and although noting serious still enough to aggravate.

On the low mileage front, engine wise the Aventador's are not really run in properly until about 10-15k miles then they really start go well.

Think the Huracan looks stunning but a 650S spider would be my choice.

Performance and looks whilst topless. Think McLaren have learned from the early MP4 12C mistakes and really hit the nail on the head with this one

This is sort of what I expected from the Aventador but to be honest I've been very pleasantly suprised. The gearbox took a little getting used too but I seem to have got into sync with it now.
Once you get used to the width it's a great car to drive , good in traffic and apart from some strange looks from passers by and a drink problem it's all good!

Assuming you could afford to put the capital in up front, would it not still be cheaper to buy the clearly better car in the Aventador then get rid in a year or two ? I was just sort of guestimating it would be... I've not run the numbers as I can't afford either laugh

Car looks fantastic in Green but the wheel colour seems to be a little plain imo.

I have to admit being a dark wheel fan though, Brad, as you know you current LP560 being White on Black is just epic imo - works a treat. cool
