So who else has ordered a new Ford GT?
Discussion
It looks spectacular and I'm sure will be an awesome car to drive.
Price wise... I imagine it'll be online with the 458 speciale - given the previous gt was in line with the 360 cs iirc.
I'm very excited about both the new gt and the Shelby 350 - should be a good if expensive year.

Whilst this car is obviously amazing to look at and there has been so much progression since the last gen, I can't help but feel sad with the route Ford have taken the engine down.
I just can't help but think that a V6 just isn't the monster a V8 is. I know with improved technology with turbos etc, they are now able to produce higher performance numbers from a lesser engine capacity, but I can't help but feel sad. For the market they are targeting, surely they aren't bothered about EU emissions?
That said, I am sure this will prove to be an all round incredible car.

I haven't watched it yet but there is a clip on GTSpirit with some engine noise:

Surprised to hear people complaining about the engine/turbos already - surely if it was a naturally aspirated V8 then Ford would have been accused of being behind the times?

EU emissions possibly not, but emissions in general? I would imagine Ford is very bothered. I can't say i know much about Ford itself, but for my sins i do know about corporate sustainability, the key to which is to apply the principles of sustainability throughout all your operations and increasingly those of your supply chain. Ford set there approach out here:http://corporate.ford.com/microsites/sustainabilit...
All of the talk on that page is undermined if Ford then go on to say "apart from the GT, where because our customers can afford the fuel we've gone for a massive displacement V8 and bought shares in Exxon Mobil".
I would also suggest that being seen to be green (or blue as the car industry would have it) is very necessary these days. If the industry isn't seen to be actively reducing it's emissions, i think the concern is that change may be forced upon it that will make Euro VI emissions look like a walk in the park. Take Formula 1, for example. I doubt the thought of melting glaciers was keeping Bernie awake at night, but fuel efficiency has moved almost centre stage in F1 tech in an attempt to placate those (and there are many of them) who would far rather see motorsport stopped altogether along with cars like the GT.
My guess would be from here on in, the justification for producing supercars will have to be increasingly as a showcase for the latest efficiency tech that will trickle down through the range.
I could of course be completely wrong
Oh and FWIW, i think it looks terrific and am hideously envious of those posting above that can afford one. Enjoy them chaps

We will have to wait and see - if it is...then so be it. I was hoping it would be 150-200k but will just grit my teeth if it is nearer 300k. I can't not have one in the garage! Got to agree on the autobox/V6 Ecoboost choice, very "unsupercarish" in one respect and most un American in another despite the claimed 600hp with help from twin turbo's, looks very nice but lacks grunt.
Used 2005/6 models are commanding $200,000 + stateside as their numbers decrease, a lot of mullar for a 10 year old Ford, based on that model I would expect a price tag of £160,000+ here
I owned a 2006 GT with all the factory options (& a few add on's) from new and ran it for 4 years with no major problems except back up from Ford, there are plenty of horror stories stateside regarding Ford's unwillingness to supply parts due to unavailability and dumping parts orders in the "back order tray"
In short and with hindsight, Ford lost interest in supporting the car after the original 4038 models were sold and the inevitable design/manufacturing problems came to light, they had legal battles with parts sub contractors who manufactured to Ford's specification and were not paid when the component failed.
Tires were a nightmare, Goodyear Eagle Supercar not very stickies, less than 6mm tread at new, rears only good for 6k miles, manufactured in batches every few years, rare has hens teeth to find a set with a respectable date code, hardly encourages pushing things to the limit, Bridgestone, Pirelli & Michelin supply alternatives but the suspension needs reworking in all cases.
As for UK Ford dealers, would you want Jonny grease monkey clambering over your £200k supercar after he's just finished doing the same to Mick the plumber's Transit? Equally, I find the same applies in the showroom, half the sales eejits just about manage to impress with their knowledge of the Mondeo.
Ford need to pull their socks up with this car and get it right, not just play at recreating some history that was favourable for them & give the brand a shot in the arm, as for the UK dealers I wouldnt waste my time or cash, Mountune/Roush no longer have the association with the Ford GT but there is an alternative, my moneys with GT101

Does look the business ! Would I spend that much money on a Ford ?????? It would have to be significantly better than more established supercar brands and even then you are always going to get the idiots that say nice Ford mate.
Get the nice Fiat, with the Ferrari, get the nice Audi with the Lambo, Get the Nice McLaren with the McLaren

This "it's just a Ford" snobbery comment doesn't wash.
It's a great car now just as the original was in it's day
Personally I have had zero issues with mine in the 7 years I've owned it and NOT ONCE has anyone made a derogatory comment regarding it's badge. People are bowled over by it first and foremost
What's not to like?

I know people will say it's not an issue but it's a wide thing to be driving from the "wrong" side IMHO
