Where are you getting that from? No deaths reported yet on any major news sites
I've got business/friends in Malta, and am flying there in the morning. Just got a text from someone there, and no mention of anyone dead although 5 critical. Hope it improves from there...mattf93 said:
Ive watched the video a few times, and although at high speed I don't know how clipping the grass forced it to spin/loose control so quickly can anyone enlighten me?
In one of the videos you can see that, just before the loss of control, the car had come past a set of barriers, which manoeuvre required the driver to apply some left lock. With the left lock, the car began as normal to rotate anti-clockwise. The lateral grip of the tyres controlled the anti-clockwise rotation.Because the car was still rotating at the moment when the offside rear tyre hit the grass, and at that moment the driver still had some left steering lock on, the car continued to rotate but there was no longer enough lateral grip to contain that rotation.
On a split surface, a car can roll at high speed in a straight line. As soon as you introduce a factor of change, however, such as braking, acceleration or lateral force, you will have a problem.
WTF! First Paul Walker gets killed in a Porsche and now Paul Bailey has nearly killed himself and a few others in the process - are Porka's really that unsafe? Both people who crashed these car's are pretty good drivers from the sounds of it - seems to me that it's the car's safety dynamics at fault and unable to keep up with the car's power!? Shocking!

Jesus Christ, do you write for the Daily Mail?!?!There are lots of 918s and Carrera GTs that haven't been crashed. Lots.
Walker's crash was caused by one thing and one thing only - Rodas was driving like a c**t. 90-100mph in a 30 zone.
Paul Bailey's crash was as flemke described, just an unlucky set of events meaning he lost control. The organisers and their lack of proper safety protocols are to blame for the injuries to spectators.

I don't mean this to sound confrontational in the context of this awful event but is there good evidence that either of the two people in your post are/were good drivers?Certainly just owning fast cars doesn't make you a good driver, I wonder if people can over estimate their abilities because of their regular use of dream motors?
