Now THAT is quite some coincidence then !

You're correct: we were there in june 2012.

Hope You were not put to risk when we were overtaking,
as we make it a general habit not to drive like some
lunatic pr*cks when the road-situation isn't clear.

Especially on passes, it's better to be patient than
risk somebody elses life who's not involved.

If we want to go REALLY fast, we stay on a track
(The Ring or Hockenheim) or on some lonely roads in
the middle of nowhere.

Sadly, not everyone thinks that way...

This was us on Stelvio that same summer:

Well it's a small world! beer

I took the time to detail your lovely pieces of metal and became a big fan of the 430 Scuderia ever since (the 458 still very, very nice in black).

And I remember that my wife was very quick to snap you overtaking the traffic where there was an empty car park that allowed for safe overtake:

There were plenty of shiny metal up here:

I bet you had good fun!

Lovely road the Grossglockner. We were in a rental VW Golf with only 80bhp, but boy did we trash every single bhp of it. We're planning to go back next year (I have a bet with my wife to drive it again, and as we now drive a Megane RS 250 Cup, the car will be fit for purpose)!

Sorry, the Grossglockner part was a bit off topic...

Just been back from France, and if you think that English people are jealous, try France for a change! Owning just a sport car is enough to upset the Froggies. Having said that, it was funny being overtaken by Renault diesels whilst religiously sticking to the speed limitations :P

Just had my first bit of hate in the 650S.

Came out of the gym and noticed a load of gunk on the car, 5 big splodges across the bonnet and then loads had run down the side and dried, looked like someone had thrown one of them yoghurt pots at it.
Pretty sure it didn't happen in the gym as it is a private car park but just before that I had left it for 10 minutes in a retail park in Basildon while I went in a shop.

Came off with a bit of care, no harm done.

I still have the car, they don't have their yoghurt!

Sorry to hear that. As you've pointed out, they'll always lead sad, miserable lives while you have fun in your 650S.

Well if they did they'd better get to a doctor quick because there were some very odd looking lumps in it!

Had to happen at some point. Someone has mistaken my car for someone else's! Came back to find a sticker on the windscreen telling me to f**koff back to Eton. Clearly a case of mistaken identity as my family aren't rich or well connected enough to have sent me to Eton frown

I despair! Typical reaction though in the UK, "you have something nice and it can't possibly through hard work".

I bought an M3 & a 911 Turbo when I was 20 so certainly had a little taster of this as you would imagine! Especially living in Leamington Spa where there is not all that much oil money around.

I remember once I parked the 911 at Tesco to buy dinner and came back to find someone had splatted an egg on it.

Though if I saw my 20 year old self today I probably would think 'dick'. So maybe it was deserved. The egg was delicious in any case.

To be fair, if you parked your car by the tesco in the town (not the warwick one) then you're lucky to come back to a car at all! lol

Hi everyone, long time lurker but this thread has made me jump in.
When you consider supercar jealousy you do need to understand it from the other person's view. It's not just about hard work. Sometimes working hard doesn't bring in the required amount of money. I've been there, I know. Some of us are fortunate enough to have jobs where when you do work really hard, the money rolls in. Not everyone has the talent, or the gift-of-the-gab, or whatever it takes, to tap into such a money source.

What I am saying is that the jealousy comes from the frustration of knowing that they will never get there - no matter how much overtime or intensity they put in.

While I don't condone any nasty or malicious behaviour, don't expect them to be happy for you. Life hasn't dealt them as kind a hand as it dealt you.

There's a whole world of difference between someone being happy for you and them going out of their way to be spiteful and destructive.

There is no excuse at all for trying to damage someone else's property just because they have more than you, no matter how that same about.

Life is unkind to many people, only some of them are spiteful and its typically because they were always that way.

^^^^ That is what I said/meant...

The gist of my post was that as a person in a priveleged circumstance, we should understand where they are coming from and not say "F___ them, they should just work harder".

Leg nailed it earlier I think, "owning a super car does not make you super". There are so many variables involved that there isn't really an easy way of bottling up an answer - but there are posers, and there are jealous cretins, and many shades in between on both sides. I don't think either side is exempt from criticism.

It shouldn't be the case that anyone should fear for their property, or feel ashamed at enjoying the fruit of their labour, but at the same time it's possible to do all of this whilst being conscious and considerate of the fact that most people will never achieve the same level of wealth, for a myriad of reasons, many of which aren't necessarily their fault.

As dang said not everyone has the capacity to join the ranks, either due to lack of talent, not being born to the right family, or whatever. The notion that all of these people "can get there if they just work hard enough" is a twee fantasy really. Most people, and we're talking 90%+, will never get there. Those people for the most part are witness to the media bombarding them with stories about privileged people living privileged lives, exempt from the usual rules and stresses from having to participate in the rat race.

I merely "do alright" and am far from the stratospheric levels of wealth or privilege of a number on here, where super-supercars are routine if not mundane purchases. I don't harbour any ill will or jealousy towards those that are at that level, but I also sympathise somewhat (not with petty vandalism or abusive comments obviously) with those that will only ever see those cars in magazines, etc. If you're a petrolhead especially, not having the means or the wherewithal to be able to enjoy a supercar must be pretty depressing. How many other comparable pursuits or passions are there in life where you can be completely locked out on pure financial terms?

Maybe I'm rambling a bit too much smile

The jealousy thing is based on a very simplistic view though.

I don't have any kids. I had a colleague who spent far more in childcare each month for his two kids than I spend on my cars. Should I be jealous of his lifestyle and "key" his kids out of jealousy?
