Do you not think the shut lines are camera angles? Chances of Porsche turning out a £700k car with dodgy shut lines...

I've seen better shut-lines on a Dutton Phaeton.

Such a shame. The car is such a technological tour de force, but is designed by the same people who can look at a 911 and think its pretty.

They really needed to build the car then give it to an italian to design the body. The germans really have no idea what a desirable sports car looks like.
I have to agree in part. All Porsches share similar DNA looks-wise, and the 918 is no different. Significant parts of both the front and rear look similar to the 911/Cayman/Boxster/Cayenne. Requiring a Porsche family look does impose extra constraints on the designer for reasons unrelated to engineering. On the other hand, for me, looks would be rather low on the list of priorities, even if I could afford one.

hehe you 'shut line' boys, you do bring 'happiness' hehe kit car indeed rofl

As for the overall design. Subjective isn't it.
I for one love the respect paid to racing Porsche's of the 60's like the 904.
The genera purity of line, surface treatment, detail.
It's quality, not outright drama that pervades here.

The shut lines are fine, anyone who has a close look can see this. It is the way the surfaces/angles intersect that give this impression.

Totally agree, great design, a bit understated in a good way and will age well. Not as shooty (and vulgar) like a Lamborghini Aventador f.i.

I love some details on this, the top exhausts especially but the panel gaps between headlights and bonnet make it look like a kit car from certain angles.
Same here, absolutely love the styling but the panel gaps at the front makes it look like they have all been in a front end shunt!

I saw my first today in Worsley, Manchester. Just wow, simply sunning looking car! I'm yet to see a picture that does it justice.
