I followed you for a while in traffic on Saturday near Wembley in my red RS4
Black looks truly stunning and my 8yr old fell in love

I remember your lovely red RS4 !
One thing with this car is either you know what it is or you don't. Those that know tend to get excited and want to follow it. wink

Top write up and some insightful thoughts that you just don't get reading the usual press articles. I've only seen one 918 close up and it fully deserves its hypercar status, bonkers looking machine.

Out of interest, how much have you had to alter your driving style at low rpm given the instant torque available, compared to say a Speciale? I would imagine you'd be able to overwhelm the rear tyres just pulling away from junctions in a semi spirited manner...
You have to be delicate with the throttle on the road, not because you will overwhelm the tyres - they have so much traction it's unbelievable - but because you will be rear ending that car a mile down the road in no time if your not careful !

Genuine question - with such power under your foot, do you not find it mentally exhausting concentrating not to warp speed yourself into the car in front?

I mean, in a 'normal' car; even a very fast one like F430, M3, whatever - it still follows the same rules; the more your put your foot down the quicker it'll go, but hyper cars like this are on another level. Having never driven such an amazing machine I've always wondered if you even just slightly tap the gas a bit more than intended do you accidently launch yourself very very fast into an unsuspecting object in front. Exciting yes; but also very scary - no?

Also, barely touching the pedal to go 70mph on the motorway must take a hell of a lot of will power sitting behind your bog standard stuff and watching your rev meter idling at a whole 2k. Do you not find it frustrating knowing it can do soooo much more? It's like having a pet lion on a leash all the time.

It is incredibly difficult to drive the car at a speed which is even close to being legal

918's the best looking Porsche for a long time, even considering how nice the CGT looks after all these years.
I nearly hit the car in front when you pulled on the road we were on as I think my neck did a full 180 smile
Good to see it out being enjoyed

Thanks for the insight Woppum, the 918 looks amazing and amazing technical tour de force. I would love one and definitively my choice over a Mc and LaF.

Love the pics - nice fleet! CGT and 918

Enjoy

Nah it's ok, I have a friend that has one just down the road, he is a really nice, generous and kind person and I'm sure he will let me have a go. Luckily I know his insurance broker too so no there is no reason why I can't.
