Can I ask what everyone's opinion is on the 612. We were asked to source one over the weekend and have found a couple of very nice examples. They are pretty cheap to pick up.

I've never driven one and I love the front end, but that tail is just not doing it for me. Looks like the designer got a bit bored.

On the other hand they are very practical.

Very much the gentlemans GT or something that should have been brushed under the carpet?

I think the 612 can look terrible or at the other extent pretty cool dependant on colour and what wheels it has, can look seriously under wheeled with the wrong ones.

We looked at one when I got the GS. The Mrs said we'd always be wondering whether to park it so we had to look at the gopping grill, or risk offending the neighbours by letting it face them, but back then we were also looking at the 456, which I still think it gorgeous.

Oddly enough they're starting to look more appealing now.

Now I love the GS. That is a beautiful timeless vehicle.

I used to look at them and think they were a bit too long, a bit too "under wheeled" as mentioned before, Didn`t think it would be that exciting to drive UNTIL I DROVE ONE for 3 days! (not non stop)

I was amazed by how nimble it was, how happy it was to change direction, how the thing seemed to shrink when driving above dawdle speeds, since then I forgive all the cosmetic things that I wasn`t sure about, the F1 in the one I drove wasn`t bad either but I`m not sure if there is much difference from car to car, I hated the slow, lurchy F1 in one of the 360s that I`ve driven!

I now really really like 612s, I think they have a secret side!

One of my favourite F cars along with a Stradale.

Needs the Challenge wheels (not ball polished) and in one of the grey's, TDF or Rosso Rubino - not black!
Definitely needs to be a later car with sports exhaust and updated gearbox software.

A One-2-One with the photochromatic roof is perfect.

Happy Hunting

I bought one! They are very colour dependent, I bought a TDF dark blue with Crema leather.

This really does feel like a supercar, whilst being comfortable, capable of 200 miles an hour and has 540 bhp. Oh, and it also has four proper seats.

No question it's a good 2+2.

That is exactly the spec we are looking at on one vehicle. Looks lovely.

Fantastic car - a supercar and a family GT.
As good on a Sunday afternoon blast as on a 1,000 mile holiday trip to Alsace (we've done both!)

And even better because they are still at a price that they can be driven not just speculated.

Bought mine to enjoy and then move on, but it's become a keeper...

I own a 2008 612 HSTC One to One and it's nothing short of spectacular, a proper super car that will not stop accelerating until it hits 200 mph. These cars were the most expensive cars Ferrari made at the time, I have an original purchase invoice for £245,000 and late examples are increasing in value.

The most impressive 612 attributes are the styling, just gets better with time, the rate of acceleration, and the steering and handling, Above all its the way the car stops that enhances the experience, you can leave braking so late from any speed safe in the knowledge that all will be well. Mines on carbon ceramics and believe me there is no going back.

Bought in the right colour, daytona seats, scuderia shields, HSTC pack, with bigger modular alloys as the car sits better. It took me 3 years to find the right car and it's staying until values hit £245,000.

Buy one now before you regret it....

panoramic roof first appeared on the Sessanta cars of 2007 and then became standard on the OTO's from 08 onward along with CCB's and the mannetino on the steering wheel
the roof has 3 tint settings.

I've driven one now.

I can see what all the fuss is about.

Was quite surprised by just how much I liked it.

Nice to see so much love for the 612! I am a huge fan, they are great to drive and are looking better each day. They remind me of the Daytona, for a while they were considered unattractive, but are now timeless classics. The peach of the range for me is the ultra rare manual six speed cars, so engaging to drive, and with a mountain of torque, you can change gear as often, or as little as you want!

Are the upgrades introduced in 2009 model worth the premium? Tempted by a 2008 with the handling pack but not sure whether to hold out for a 2009 model?

The HSTS pack was introduced in late 2006 I believe in response to negative press. This gives you remapping on the F1 software for faster changes, suspension upgrades, bigger alloys and a sports exhaust. However the pack to have is the HSTC which basically adds carbon ceramics which were a £15,000 option.

At the very least go for the HSTS pack and avoid cars between 2004 and early early 2006. Not that they are bad cars in themselves it's just the later cars are more desirable and collectible. I own a late 2008 One to One HSTC, the one with the manettino switch on the steering wheel. The glass roof is a nice option as it allows in light however it's like a sauna when it gets hot. The other thing to know is carbon ceramics produce vertually no brake dust which is great!

I'll keep the car as long as it takes to reach that original purchase price, and it will! At the top end prices of like cars are already edging way past £120k, and there are only 17 registered One to One cars delivered in RHD to the UK. These cars are rare and are now beginning to be appreciated.

Thanks Charly. I note there are a couple one to one's for sale at the moment and also a 2008 with HSTC, which looks very nice. Any other down side with the glass roof, for examples squeaks or creeks, leaks etc? I have to say these cars look epic as a GT car for covering long distances, which is what I'm looking for, something to keep in the UK for road trips I can include the family in. I keep a GT3 there at the moment but that is a bit restrictive!
