I'm driving my 918 solo from London to Baden-Baden, a trip I've not done before, in September. Does anyone have a favourite town and hotel with secure parking that they regularly use to break the journey? Any worthwhile detours/excursions to consider en route?

Two standard overnight suggestions are the Chateaux Tilques & Cocove both about an hour east of Calais just off the Autoroute

No. But Brenner's Park in Baden-Baden is a magnificent hotel with secure underground parking. I liked Baden-Baden too: a lovely town.

I have used Chateau la Motte a couple of times with Porsche club France, nothing special room wise but great food and very safe outide parking, owner is a car nut who owns a Renault Alpine.
10 mins up the road is the old street circuit of Camay for a few laps.

Usually stop overnight at Reims last year on the way to the black forest, some nice hotels/restaurants there if you look around and the old circuit is worth a look as well. Baden Baden's a nice town, lots of rather good fast flowing roads nearby too.......

We stay at the Chateau D'Etoges south of Reims (about 30 mins off the motorway on very quiet well sighted roads).

Nice place, great food and car park which is locked at night.

If you stay in Reims make sure you get a hotel with safe parking. Mate had his Lotus keyed deeply all over when we stayed a couple of years ago, parked in the main square outside car park.

Oh dear. I would never park there, even in the daytime. We're in Reims twice a year. There are loads of hotels with enclosed parking and if you're stuck then use the Erlon public one which is really well maintained and contains plenty of nice cars. You could eat your dinner off the floor. Can't remember how much that was last October - maybe €15 for the night? What on earth were you thinking of parking outside?? rolleyes

Yeah I stayed in one of the central hotels with an underground carpark (best western I think). Ramp was a bit steep but not terrible.

OP - just remembered, was recommended this one as well by a friend if you do end up in that area. Pricy mind but not on the order of the Brenner Park either... wink

I stayed here last weekend. Friendly, comfortable, decent food, outdoor parking on the grounds away from public view, in a very quiet village. Also, if my car can make it up the driveway without scraping on the floor then yours probably can too! Recommended.

Best hotel in Reims by a mile is Les Crayeres (near to Veuve). La Briqueterie, Etoges etc are ok. Nothing amazing. Assiette Champenoise has good parking, is reasonably priced and easy to access Reims centre. If I had your car, was driving solo and wanted somewhere comfortable, safe for the car and easy to access Reims, I'd stay in Les Crayeres.

Chateau Tilques is ok. But it's at J3 off the A26 ie about 30 mins from the Eurotunnel. Not worth the detour IMO.

The old F1 Circuit just outside Gueux is worth a look. If you have time, take the back roads from Laon via Fismes.

Have a safe trip.

Pay attention at the back! The original post was last year so a bit late for recommendations.

Very popular with car enthusiasts stopping off on the way home from Euro trips.

Also the place I got engaged.

While far too late I have to agree that the Brenners Park in Baden Baden is a superb hotel, with very good secure parking. I stayed there a few weeks ago and will definitely be returning. When I pulled up the valet said "Would you mind parking your car yourself sir?" which suited me fine.

Everything about the place is top notch, the gym, sauna and pool, the bar and restaurant, the service.

I don't have shares in it!
