There seems to be a fair bit of green eyed jealousy towards Shmee on this thread.
That's a reductive argument. Assuming that were even the case (I don't think it is) does it invalidate their point of view?
No doubt jealousy will be behind some of the comments and speculation... but such is life.

Shchmee himself is encouraging it (the speculation, not the jealousy) by being a public face of someone who's young and seemingly funding high end cars from this hobby/business. Then when he's either deliberately vague or actually lying (and to be clear, he has been doing both) it just further fuels the speculation even more.

Mix in a whiff of daddy's money, the accent and the grating presenting style, along with deliberately making life difficult for other supercar owners and nobody can be shocked that he's getting a bit of stick. I'm not saying it makes it right... but its pretty clear why its all happening.

All in, if I had the option to be as hated as him and drive a 675LT off the back of it, I'd absolutely 100% do it so fair play to him. Who really gives a st what a bunch of people that you don't know and will never meet think of you anyway?

No I don't, I think he's an arse.

Does it make any of my points in that post less valid though?

Lots and lots of PH high horses here.

I am thinking of the various PH Sunday services I have where people rev their engines and drive like knobs.

I don't think Shmee is to blame, young lads in fast/loud cars will show off. Let's face it Shmee isn't at half the McDonald's in the land every evening where exactly the same antics occur.
This is fair. I saw something at such an "event" which confirmed they are extremely dangerous - and it's not confined to young lads.

Regarding Shmee, I feel it's a case of "don't shoot the messenger".

Today nearly 500 million pictures are uploaded to Facebook each day. There are more mobile phones in the world than there are toothbrushes, and phone penetration is only at 50% of the world's population. 5 of the largest tech firms are sitting on 380 billion USD in cash. Large amounts of this is generated by advertising that's delivered on an increasingly automated basis targeted to you based on the data from your personal id.

Nothing is free, you use services for free because everything you do is tracked so the services are paid for through ads. And some. The tech firms want billions of Shmees: filming, posting, sharing across mobile devices, everywhere all the time. If you feel Shmee is encouraging the stupid antics of cock drivers, he's not. He's a tiny part in a global social experiment the likes of which we've never seen before.

I think Schmee is long past being the 'messenger', he is now the 'instigator'.

If you're posting videos of people acting like a dick, and you already have a massive following of people wanting to see videos of people acting like a dick.... then its extremely hard to see this as anything other than encouraging it.

I'd have far more respect for someone who just said it like it is, instead of trying to present it all like something its not. If Schmee came out and openly said "yeah I dont care, the videos of people being anti social / dangerous put fuel in my McLaren" then that'd be fine.

To be clear I'm neutral towards Shmee. I also have a concern over the spotters, I was in town on Saturday with my wife in my 599 GTO and a young kid with a serious camera starting taking lots of shots. One reason I asked for my reg numbers taken off Michael's Speciale/SA list is privacy. It's nuts showing plates and that's why I find spotters a pain.

But Shmee is no instigator. He's just one of millions trying to generate fame (and then money) via new platforms. You would need to live to 1900 years of age to watch every video on YT today, with hundreds of hours being uploaded every minute. The amount of mobile data being transferred is growing dramatically, 4 exabytes this year, 25 by 2019. So Shmee's competition is vast and growing. His response to the tsunami of competitive content might be to become more extreme (he wouldn't be the first in human history). The problem for a more extreme Shmee - if he went that route - is the platforms he uses can't draw in the big brand bucks with that sort of content.

Shmee and others like him will have to evolve into much smarter content providers.

That has no relevance. If people are deliberately going to his Youtube channels to watch someone crash an Aventador in Knightsbridge or see some arab do a burn out in a c63, then is *is* part of the problem. When you're connecting the attention seeking idiots doing it in the first place, with the silly little kids online who want to watch it... then you're probably the worst part of the problem when you consider you're the only one actually getting paid to do it.

Indeed, as the people wanting to watch Aleems flaming aventador or a 458 having the engine thrashed to within an inch of its life whilst stationary at traffic lights, aren't a demographic you can realistically sell anything to. There is nothing you can sell to the carperazzi crowd.... 14 year old old idiots living at home with parents and (outside of Schmee of course) with zero disposable income.

No, the person who crashes the Aventador or does the burnouts is the worst part of the problem. Come on man, I'm sure you're better than this really.

Given your strong position, and not having watched Shmee before, I decided to have a quick view of his work. "Lamborghini Aventador Cooking the Christmas Turkey".....or as one post said, "can I have 2 mins of my life back". couldn't agree more. At this rate of output Mr Shmee is nearly there with Fonzie and his jumping shark. That said, it's pretty harmless stuff. OK, I wave the white flag.

That video is somewhat in contrast with the articulate person who wrote the above posts!

Lots of dislike for Shmee using words liike hate etc. do you haters actually know the bloke?

If not grow up and get a sense of proportion.

I don't know Shmee but I have seen the antics around Mayfair etc but I fail to see how you can lay driving like a moron ag shmee's door. Even the authorities don't nlame the photographers otherwise the new offence would be something like "inciting dangerous driving and incitement to cause distress"

Well there isn't any concept of entrapment in UK law, so it's right and proper that the drivers are held to a higher standard than random photographers at the side of the road. No one forces them to do anything.

LOL at KFC. Brilliant replies, at least hes honest smile

Why has this thread focused about Shimmmy, Tim, or what other gamer name he uses. Who cares what he drives, how hes got it, none of our business and most dont give a hoot. Fair play to him for owning such a nice car. HOWEVER i will say hes as bad as the rest of the car spotters. I bet if a Lamborghini Veneo went roaring down 4 lanes of traffic, he will run out in front of cars just to video it.

The thread in question is about the new law. Each one of the show offs should be handed a fine and points. Kensington need a seperate traffic policing unit. Even better, put up speed bumps.

Great, now you've got innocent Lambo owners forced to make noise to navigate new unwanted speed bumps in the street they live in , along with giving the virgins excellent points where they know the cars are going to have to slow to a crawl for them laugh

Just ticket the knobs causing the problem in the first place. Have the fines in some way linked to income or car value. Lets be realistic here... a £60 fine (or whatever it is) is a farce when you're driving a £100k-400k car. Its the same here in Portugal... drive a decent car & foreign license and you don't give a st about speed limits. Just get caught and pay the fines (there and then, in cash) with no real prospect of ever being banned.

Or how about towing the cars there and then , say you can't have it back for a week (and you pay the storage, and a large fine)

Beached my car in Prince of Wales drive (next to battersea park) Had to actually get out of the car to raise it off the speed ramps and push it off! frown they are fking ridiculous rage

Sent complaint into council and the s did not even bother to respond mad

Needless to say the residence got the full decibels of my car in between each of them!

If they had not been there I would have just driven along minding my own business and would not have disturbed the residence. The residence played a key part in getting the ramps installed so I have ZERO Sympathy.

In small reference to Tim's 918 anecdote, it should be understood that the fastest way to get round London on 4 wheels is in an EV. A Renault Zoe is my weapon of choice. Yes that's right, the silent assassin that tears away from traffic lights and darts into traffic gaps, all whilst turning no heads whatsoever. That, Tim, would make a good feature. Akin to the old top gear train/ plane/ automobile, just have tube vs lambo vs i3.

8 years ago I used to park a Gallardo in the street and drive to work and back in central london. It was black, but still attracted attention, albeit mostly passive. I guess fewer people had camera phones then. The most irritating were the motorway gawkers who would block you in while taking a vid for their mates.

This weekend I collect a McLaren. No discount here either. I wonder how any journeys around town will go by comparison to the experience of 8 years ago.

Judging from this thread I should expect to be fined, vilified, and find it troublesome to avoid teenage boys throwing themselves in front of it. I will report back.

Yup, I live on Battersea Park Road and have to avoid there for the same reason, pissed off traffic a lot by getting to the first one, getting out to have a look and deciding there was no way I was getting over it and turning around.

Rookie mistake. Everyone knows you need a Hummer to get around in London.
