Does that actually need a change in the law to stop it? For instance;

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Why aren't Plod using the powers they already have? Some of that looks as if it would be relatively easy to get a due care and attention or dangerous driving conviction. Indeed, given their recent penchant for trawling youtube, why aren't Plod all over Schmee's channel?

Presumably the plod are too busy catching more important crims and so are happy for the council to get ticketing powers instead. As mentioned, the offenders can cough up no problem so it looks like it'll be a money making scheme. The tickets will become trophies. Anyone have better ideas about how to stop this juvenile behaviour?

No point fining Arabs. Convict for offences which carry points and ban them for totting up if they persist.

Special pleading.

If his Arab mates aren't the ones being tts, they won't be affected by this and should welcome it if it removes the Brits who are giving them a bad name - so what's his problem?

I think Shmee makes some interesting if specious points here. What I keep coming back to is the whole symbiosis of it all. The car spotters are there to catch supercar drivers making noise and accelerating quickly past them, that's what gets their videos views, and that sycophancy draws in those who are looking to draw attention to themselves.

Shmee gives some mundane examples of supercars just pootling past the camera - one might argue to conveniently prove his point - yet at the end of the video he's got some "More Shmee150 videos you may enjoy" with someone revving the bks off a Merc on the street. laugh

"There's not much misbehaviour going on in London, or if there was I would be uploading all the videos from it." "I'm not filming the guys who I think do come along just to cause trouble because I don't want to promote that behaviour" - aren't those statements contradictory?

Regardless of Shmee's personal agenda on this I find it hard to believe Kensington & Chelsea are considering introducing this policy on a whim, it must be based off of (probably numerous) complaints from people who have more right to be there, and can't avoid the noise. It's wky behaviour whether it's Shmee filming it or anyone else.

Nobody is arguing about stopping the morons. There is a level of argument about where the law defines a moron. There is a level of argument that the proposed Byelaw is hugely badly worded, and claims signficantly more powers than is reasonable, especially given the previous argument about subjective judgement and it's enforcement. There is a level of argument that the offences here are more than adequately covered under existing national legislation that doesn't involve a Local Authority. And that's assuming that the holders of the quite expensive cars do not involve quite expensive lawyers.

Only seems fair to me that this should also apply to Taxis and Buses, who are motorists and often seen in convoys clogging our cities up biggrin

Good, and about time.

Look at the loaction, Sloane Street. Supercar owners that want to show off to car spotters go there. You dont see show offs around Embankment or even mass spotters. With all respect to their hobby and interests, they do encourage the anti social behaviour.

It's been a long time coming.
Ever since groups of chavs have been doing donuts and wheelspins en-masse around local B&Q car parks, it has been just a matter of time that it is going to land on the desk of the big nobs to sort out.
FFS, why race around the congested streets of Knightsbridge or Chelsea?
These cars are designed for fast motorways and country roads.
There is no bigger supercar lover than me, but when I saw a group of Arabs doing burnouts around Harrods in their AMG Mercs, I actually felt embarassed for them.

What a mong.
Heh, he'd have to return all the flash cars he financed from youtube videos such as this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfS8iz2NaLE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfM9ZPOFegQ

(his two top viewed videos)

but don't let your eyes deceive you, those are all british people in lowly bodykitted BMWs.

What a hypocrite...

So the man with probably the single most vested interest in this argues as if these laws aren't really fair. Some of the utter crap he spouts in that video is so so wrong it is just stupid. Like where he suggests that most of the residents or K&C are so old they can't tell what car is making the noise? I mean get a grip.

He post some pointless little vids of Veyrons driving at 10mph to prove his point. He is probably the major reason for the proliferation of the stupid youtube kids standing around telling owners to rev the tits off their cars and generally act like tts. But of course that's not him is it. No he's only there to film the cars and not the tttish behaviour.

He makes a point about some of the bad behaviour being Uk based dheads but before he helped accelerate this youtube car posting craze those tts stayed away from the centre, whereas now they come in to K&C.

In fact the very next video in his list dated the day before (26th July) which he calls "London Supercar Carnage - Aventadors, Noise and Craziness" with a G Wagon he describes as the "world's noisiest" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXPT3IPqxFg
Now admittedly it may be UK plated but there aren't many British people that buy G63 Wagons and it's still the reason this kind or legislation is needed. He also didn't seem to post the Avendator crash on Sloane Street which again was uk plated but was also LHD and the driver looks pretty arab (before he conveniently pixelated out his face) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfS8iz2NaLE

Also he bangs on about the money that Arabs spend here but in fact given the way the UK has laundered dirty cash from the world over they have actually made money, and a lot of it, from the property they have bought here, so let's not make out like they are doing us one enormous favour. They stay in a very select area and shop in a lot of UAE owned shops. They also come here because for the summer their countries are so oppressively hot and also lets not forget the fact that they can fk Russian hookers and drink and gamble without the prying eyes of their families and minions.

Let's just remember that the locals in Ibiza and Spain and Majorca hate how the Brits abroad act and try and legislate to keep them under control. These guys are considerably richer but they are still acting like chavs abroad, only a lot of it is being done in suites at the Dorchester and on the streets of Knightsbridge instead of Magaluf.

So as someone who has helped create and exacerbate this situation I regard his input akin to a drug dealer complaining about drug legislation.

I have never meet Shmee but I suspect he is probably a very decent guy. But to post that video to try and defect the blame for the current situation is a massive own goal.

I think most would agree he has been the most successful spotter out there which has led to the tribe of wanabees now infesting the area. The fact that he appears to have acquired an increasingly desirable list of supercars (McLaren 675LT soon to be delivered, good choice by the way) on the back of his popularity only encourages more of his kind onto the streets. The result of this is that these nutty drivers have an even larger audience for their antics. They even compare their YouTube hits like a game of Top Trumps.

Shmee has been very selective in his example videos, a quick search will reveal he is more than happy to document bad behaviour both domestic and foreign, and why not, they get the most views.

To highlight the Brits is just plain wrong, again a quick search on YouTube will reveal countless other spotters videos of the Arabs getting up to no good.

It was only a matter of time before the local grandees decided enough is enough.

This whole situation reminds me of the glory days of the Chelsea Cruise in the early 80’s when it was actually held on the Kings Road, it became so huge the locals decided enough was enough and had it moved to Battersea Park and it has never been the same since.

Shmee to feign outrage and blame the Brits at what is now likely to happen is naïve at best, it was just a matter of time before those causing the issues had their wings clipped, it’s just a shame it takes everyone else down

living in this part of London for 15 years, I can now say it is beyond a joke the amount of kids on Sloane St filming cars. This is as much a nuisance as the Arab Lambos doing 0-40mph drag races in 100m. I have to drive on Sloane St on some occasions because it connects me with my flat and the west end but am now having to try and go along other routes simply to avoid the mass embarrassment of 25+ kids running down the street and jumping out in front of cars all in order to take a video for 10 seconds. I don't think the kids have realised that 25 videos of the exact same lambo for the same 10 seconds is not going to get any views on youtube anymore...

It pisses me off how these children label anyone who complain about this behaviour as jealous. The residents in central London are not going to be poor, they can afford these cars as well I'd guess. It's not jealousy, numbnuts.

When (or if) the Virgin Squad get jobs they'll be more sympathetic to the "jealous" residents.
