Your 2nd paragraph and the suggestion that keying a car would be right and proper payment for not displaying a number plate has IMO
no place on any forum and would even shame the gutter press.

You can hardly complain if you act like an arse and then some lowlife takes the law into their own hands... thats generally the way things go. If you park across 3 parent and child spaces you shouldn't be overly surprised when some scumbag decides to run their Zafira keys along the side of your Ferrari.
If you own a car worth £150k then writing you a ticket for £60 is utterly pointless. Given that its clearly a deliberate attempt to break the law I'd suggest that either 3 points or a fine that is somewhat related to the finances of the person involved would be a more reasonable way to deal with it.
If someone posted a picture of their Ford Focus with no front number plate they'd quite rightly get a load of abuse. Why should you be any different because you've got a bit more cash?

I drive a 458, when I got the car ( 2nd owner ) it had a small front no plate made on a sticker on the front,looks ok, but the good thing is it peels off & can be put on or off very easily, bit like one of those window stickers type things. So when I run round locally I tend to leave it off, but if I am going on bigger trips/motorways etc then I stick it on. Its always in the boot , so if I get stopped ( not happened yet ) then I simply say 'sorry officer, just washed the car, forgot to put it back on' and I promptly stick it back on again.....

How many times do you think they've heard "sorry officer, it just fell off / I forgot to put it on".
I'd have thought if you treat the cop like an idiot its going to count as an attitude test fail and you're getting a ticket.

Anyways... Very sorry to hear about your hit and run misfortune, must have been so very traumatic for you. Rather than being fixated on front number plates surely you'd be better off insisting on rear plates??????

He needs to be able to concentrate on the front plate as he gets run over as he'll be unconscious as the car leaves the scene.
Lets be clear, we all break the law in one way or another almost daily, be it parking, speeding, mobile use, lane use, driving to close etc etc etc.
I'd rank the law breaking of leaving a front plate off quite low down the list to be honest...it's a cheeky test of the powers that be, in the interest of vanity, big deal.
Keying cars for ANY reason is quite high up the list...that's pre-meditated malicious vandalism with intent. Scum do it, scum suggest it.

erm well yeah if you take two words out of the sentence to suit your risible argument, yes there is obviously intent and and pre-meditation in removing a number plate... but of course it's easier to gloss over the other two words for you eh malicious vandalism...If you act like an ass you need to accept there are going to be potential repercussions from it. So who is worse, the supercar owner who pushes his luc in the name of vanity? or the jealous vandal who thinks he can take the law into his own hands?
