No brainer, I'm a big Ferrari fan but I'd do the swap in a heart beat, run the 918 for 12 months sell it buy a standard Speciale and trouser 400k and enjoy my free car. What a dilemma! I always think the Aperta's, 16M etc are ornament cars that are rarely driven and usually just looked at and bought out at shows. These cars need to be experienced at high speed on track. In the Aperta your bouffant will get ruined(-:

True, but don't forget there's a bouffant risk with 918 as well. Here's mine with bouffant protection in place.

Genuinely in a different time zone to Speciale we had just passed (much as i would still like a Speciale!)

Yes, surely you'd be mad not to?
^ this.

One is Porsche's all out no expense spared technology showcase built to an incredible standard.

The other is a tarted up standard model convertible with build quality that is nothing to shout about and already has considerable scuttle shake and almost certainly will be built in larger numbers than Ferrari will claim despite the 'limited run' status.

Utter madness to even have to think about it in a flat swap IMO.
isaldiri - have you driven an Aperta yet?

I would.

BUT....

Did you order the Aperta from new? If so - you know that Ferrari won't like it and won't let you order anything else special......

That, nutbehindthewheel, only you can answer......

just sell it for £700k and buy anther Aperta @ ~500k then snort the profit
I know "man math" assumes some creative license but can you please explain how you arrived at the above?

No but it's not a great stretch to assume the aperta to speciale would be at minimum similar to the difference between the 458 spider and coupe is it?

he swaps his Aperta for a 918
sells the 918 for £700k/1m euros+
spends £500k on a Aperta leaving £200k profit...

Depends if it was a acid green 918 wink

Apparently they are worth a bit more.

what part of it is fantasy?

I don't see how this isn't a complete no-brainer with massive profit in it.

what, in your opinion is the going rate for both cars at the moment?

I genuinely wouldn't swap my 918 for two 458 Apertas.

A RHD Aperta 550K, a 918 with del miles 950K. Not even close. Assuming you can find a UK RHD Aperta with an owner prepared to be black listed by Ferrari.

And per my earlier post why would anyone from a purely financial perspective who owns a 918 swap their car for a 458 SA?

I don't have an Aperta but would truly love one. I wouldn't swap it for my speciale or my 918 though. It won't be as fun on track as the spaz and it will not get me across Europe in bliss like the 918. The Aperta would have to be an extra, which really would be a luxury!

I mis-read the thread, I thought OP had a 918 owner lined up who was willing to swap, I was agreeing with you that it's a no brainer if you had someone stupid enough to do so.

Sales of used 918 have stalled , prices are falling.
Aperta on the other hand has strong demand.
Prices will soon converge
So have you decided to swap or not ?
