Big advantage of buying aa 430 is you can then buy matching clothing including underpants, adorn yourself in Ferrari perfume, and blend into any supercar paddock.
mate, we've been here before and it didn't end well https://www.x-bionic.com/men/automobili-lamborghin...

A Lambo trumps a Ferrari in the high street head turning contest every time, Ferraris are a bit, well, common
Maybe a Murci or an Aventador, but the Gallardo, unless it's blinged up is pretty nondescript. There's a few around Edinburgh and they rarely turn heads quite frankly.jshell said:

Thats amongst the public in general rather than the genuine enthusiast who is perhaps more knowledgeable about motorsport pedigree and handling finesse.

I owned an F430, and found the build quality poor at best. I also didn't like how the car reacted mechanically Vs electronically - I was never sure of where I was with it. However with the roof down, 8k rpm in 3rd was a joy.
I drove a Gallardo at an experience day, so can only tell you about the few laps I had on an airfield 'track'. A blunt tool, with no real grace. I was really disappointed - one had been on my buy list for a long time, but no more.
I'd say have a look at every car in that class, have a drive of them and make the decision that way.

everything I've ever driven on a experience day has been underwhelming..... you'd have been no where near the limit, hence it being blunt.... as with most modern cars, you have to be really pushing on to feel the chassis70proof said:

Completely agree.Going back to the original question.
Gallardo or F430.
I love the F430 but I have a huge soft spot for the 1st generation Superleggera.

I do agree with this in most cases as you say.But Ferrari is the exception. The chassis feel, even at low to medium speeds, was the whole reason I bought one. I'm sure Gallardo is/should be the same. It got good reviews, anyway.
I want a Gallardo. Manual. For now, watching the Japanese battle it out on the high speed test circuit is all I can manage. http://youtu.be/CuUmijoSOwE

In the end plumped for the 430 for a myriad of reasons but definitely found the interior of Gallardo's especially dull. I also preferred the overall package of the 430.
Saying all that, the next car a will be a Lambo, possibly a lairy coloured Gallardo or an earlier Murcielago.
Just go with whatever makes you feel the most excited when you are in them. The 'theatre' of these cars is what makes them so much fun

I don't agree with a couple of points above. I think a Gallardo draws more attention than an F430 in the same colour no matter which colour they are painted. A black F430 for example is pretty stealthy. It's just the majority of F430s are painted red whereas there are plenty of black Gallardos.
Also just because the Gallardos interior is more logical compared to a F430 which has many different sized buttons and controls, does that make it more dull? I'd rather take the more structured layout in the Gallardo, especially when it looks so good with either the carbon bucket seats and carbon trim interior (such as in the Superleggera) or the quilted leather package in the LPs.
Of course I am biased as I have a Gallardo and dismissed the F430 after spending 2 weeks driving each before purchasing.

i test drove both back to back a few years ago....430 felt really agile and responsive whereas the gallardo felt more like a blunt instrument.both really impressive for different reasons but i ultimately picked a 430 (twice)...... i hope one day to be able to add a gallardo, but it would never be at the expense of the 430
Appreciate if your looking, you may have already seen these, seems the general view is that the F430 is better to drive but the gallardo is faster. particular mention of the traction control systems and gearboxes of each. Interesting they mention the traction system on the F430 flatters even an average driver.

Tiff seemed to like the F430 spyder rather a lot:

Jeremy didn't seem to rate the early Gallardo, but did like the convertible (even more than he loved the F430 earlier in the series):

Then he bought a Gallardo Spyder...
quite a balanced comparison (I think from one of his xmas DVDs) here:

Of course James May bought a F430... Seems either is pretty thrilling...

Buy whatever makes you smile, enjoy it, make sure you look out of the window in the morning and when you see it you grin and buzz and just want to take it for a spin. Unless your pro-proam race driver are you going to be so critical as to differentiate your Lambo vs Fezza either will make you feel alive. I'm in a bright orange Lambo Performante, I've had to adjust to continual photo flashes from iPhones and hearing young and old whoop shout Lambo and point (yep the dull Gallardo who'd have thought it!) On the track pro drivers have complemented and this Monday one kept all but the R8 LMS GT3 car in his wake. All these cars are great, again but the one that made you smile the most, enjoy your ride good hunting
