I am going to be Importing a Ferrari 360 from Sweden. The garage have suggested that they keep it registered/taxed in Sweden, they provide fully comp insurance for me to drive it back to the UK and then I just register it as an import. Does this sound reasonable or do I need to get export plates from Sweden.

Also I keep reading that I do not need to get it IVA/SVA tested although the DVLA seem to suggest otherwise?

Any help much appreciated.

Unless it's an extremely late registered 360 it will be over 10 years old so no IVA needed and a piece of cake to register with DVLA.

Go to the website under "How to import a car to the UK" and follow the procedure. Takes a bit of time but easy at the end. Be prepared to having to change speedo, lights and rear fog lights for approval in the UK. Driving it over yourself is not a problem. Remember to get a Certificate of Conformity which can take a couple of weeks.

You don't need a Certificate of Conformity so don't worry about that. And although strictly speaking you should change the speedo, it is not an MOT fail and you can get away with not doing it if you don't mind reading in KMH.

As above registration is very easy, you just need to MOT it and fill in a V55/5 form (which you have to order from the DVLA and takes a week or so so worth doing in advance).

Cheers,
Bryn.

Might be worth chatting with http://www.carseurope.net/

They gave me a good price on bringing a car back from Europe and also sorting out the relevant DVLC stuff. However I did bring my Superleggera back myself from Munich.
