Ok, I would still stand by my advice (about spending 6-7K more and getting one with less miles) but a little less so as you aren't so bothered by resale value. I would say after 2 years it would dip under 30K but only just. I'd sooner have an R8 with 100K than a 430 with 100K.

Go and see it and give it a drive. See what you think.

I would want to inspect the remaining shafts & CV's, and I'd most probably replace them for peace of mind.

I don't think you will have a problem with a high mileage R8. I have driven a few at 60-85k miles for several months at a time and they have all been ok. IMO much more reliable than a Maserati GT, DB9, Ferrari 360 etc or equivalent.

Seems well-priced to me if it's a cared for example, And if there offering strong trade in on the M5 why not.

I have no experience of them mechanically but it’s basically a RS4 running gear? So I'm not sure why everyone’s making out its some sort of mystical Italian V8 that never strays over 30k miles. I’ve seen ALOT of rs4's circa 80-120k miles and people still seem to be buying/driving them no problem. To be honest I'm fairly surprised the gearbox needed replacing already which could indicate a possible hard life or a few missed gears on that click/clack gearbox!

Where did anyone, let along everyone, say this?

It's in the advert and the thread. The driveshaft failed.

Debating whether the car is going to be ok at 95k when it’s a RS4 running gear? For instance I don't see many people scared of buying RS4’s 95k that's all.

admittedly I didn't read the full ad biggrin

It was the high mileage resale value that was a concern, not the running gear. They're fairly bulletproof mechanically.

This car has been for sale for at least six months at this price. My first question would be why, but if all checks out I can't see it worth less than £30k for a long time.

Went to see it....

Car checks out, the guys run a tuning company and as soon as I pulled up there was a big line up of supercars. Gallardo's GTR's the works.

The guys pulled it into their workshop for me and showed me around the car. guys, the car looks even better than the photos. They even got it up in the air and I had a good poke round everywhere. I felt confident.

As we got chatting he said he had loads of interest in the car but most people that rang up moaned about the mileage he said how one guy with a GT3 rep bugged him for days about a trade in but that wasn't for them.

Anyway long story short the car drove great, I think most people have probably been put off the ad with the high mileage and maybe the gearbox work? I ran a full check on the car and all checked out fine. I decided to put a deposit on the car and will pick it up on Monday.

Words can't describe the feeling but I don't think I'll sleep for days.

Not related as far as I know, they are running a separate car sales business to their tuning business however the car was at their garage tonight so least I could get it on some ramps

Contrary to popular belief, Italian V8s are pretty bulletproof. It's threads similar to this that keep people fretting about adding mileage, affecting value/resale. That's the main reason mileages are so low. Oh, and the weather!

Great stuff, I hope it works out well for you. Build a buffer in the bank for piece of mind and enjoy it smile

I bought a very miley car once - best value for money I've ever had - so congrats! Great they let you have a proper look around too. Ask Warranty Direct for a warranty quote - and haggle. They will go to 130k miles max. I'd imagine about a £1100 cost maybe? Or just stash the grand for a rainy day and keep topping it up £75 a month - I had thousands in mine when I sold the miley car that never went wrong!

A good common sense approach, pretty much what we do with our 360.
