Just wondering if any of your have parked your Pride and Joy in the Terminal 5 NCP car park at Heathrow airport, or if anyone had any experiences of parking anything there.

I'm off to the Ferrari factory next month so will only be left there 1 night. I don't fancy handing over the keys to someone to go park my car on a street corner or rag the st out of it. Last time I used a valet park at an airport my car packed in on the way home (May have been coincidence but who knows)

Cheers

I suspect the only thing you can do to limit the risk of damage is to avoid the cheapest tier of car parks, that will keep you away from most of the random travellers and families with wayward children and suitcases.

The 'Business' car park at T5 is a good compromise between price and location (their minibuses will drive you to the terminal straight away rather than waiting around for other punters) plus you get to pick your own space.

I always use Premium Parking on the airport. Plenty of space between the cars and your car is not the only sports/supercar there by a mile. Also, Heathrow T5 is probably the most guarded parking space in the world so i would not have any worries parking there. I would not use the meet and greet valet services because they actually park offsite and then drive your car to you for collection. Im off to Milan tomorrow so if you see a Martini Porsche 991 GT3 RS - say hello.

Yeah, have heard too many horror stories about the valet parking services. Also had a bad experience where we used one (just with a fiesta) and the car broke down a few miles after collecting it.

Will have a look at the business parking, though think it was about £50 for about 30 hours! I would expect my cars own security guard for that!

Surely £30 is worth it for peace of mind alone? I would have thought short stay standard costs would be close to that anyway...The extra fuel cost in using a supercar for the airport commute rather than a daily must be a damn site more than £30 too.

I shouldn't imagine security or late night pub-leaving scrotes are much of an issue at airport sites so steer clear of the valet parking as you say and your only risk is someone being a bit careless with a trolley.

£30 is fine, which is the NCP. Was wondering if anyone had experiences of that car park or whether its really worth shelling out for the other airport car parks.

The NCP is a park yourself type, so at least I don't have to worry about someone else driving my car.

As for petrol, I'll be using the Exige - so 40+ mpg! cool

Do you though? £50 to leave a car somewhere for a day?

In that case I really wouldn't be too worried. The Exige is so tiny that you should have acres of space around it in even a modest space so even trolley knocks unlikely - plus of course the fact that a benefit of plastic cars is you don't get car park dings unless someone clobbers it hard enough to crack the clam.

It was £60 in the short stay car park at Leeds for just over 24 hours a few months back. My colleague from Yorkshire almost fainted on the spot.

This is probably my major issue... I'm from Yorkshire!

I don't mind spending money, I don't like paying owt for nowt!!! £60 is ridiculous for somewhere up north! I expect 'darn sarth' to be a bit more expensive. At the best of times I struggle to come to terms with spending anything above a fiver to park up for a day! I'd rather walk an extra mile than pay more!

Except with exiges you need a bit more space to open the doors due to wide sills so better to get a spare where no one can park close to your drivers door.

I've mastered the art of getting in and out without needing to open the doors too much. My work colleagues thought it would be funny to park really close to my car!

I've parked in the T5 short stay for a few days at a time in the Elise, Exige and 355. You see some fairly flash cars in there so I wasn't too worried.

True - but the doors aren't so wide that its usually a problem. I drove mine in all manner of circumstances and car parks and never had any real issue and I am a lanky pr1ck.

I've left my cars at the POD or Business parking many times (997 GT3RS, 964RS, Stradale)

If I were taking the 355 or Mondial then I'd probably pay the £70 eek for the Pod. So has no one ever used the NCP then?

Best check that your insurance policy doesn't exclude parking/storing at airport locations. I was surprised to find that some policies explicitly exclude this.
