Whilst I appreciate the sentiment, surely you are just going to have the police loitering around every corner waiting for you ?

I've done many events, you don't have to drive like a maniac and a few blasts of acceleration is enough to satisfy many of your passengers. I think the local police are always aware and while not turning a blind eye I like to think they would be a little flexible as long as you're not being an idiot!.
Great events, good fun for all involved and for a great cause, respect to the people who give up their time to organise.

I've taken my son to a large number of Sporting Bears events, and ones where they have had a presence, only once noticed the Police (Birmingham Classic, a couple of years ago) and as mentioned above, they only went for the ones really going for it. Don't forget, these are the rivers own cars and licenses so there's only so much they will push.

^^^What this chap says. I'm (along with my father) a member of Sporting Bears. The emphasis is put on the acceleration and braking rather than outright speed. We're driving on the roads so we can't be too silly.

I'll be at Brands for that event, and hopefully on track too smile

I've also done a few, as mentioned as long as you don't drive like a cock then the police generally leave you alone.
Anyone can go 100mph in pretty much any car, what the public are paying for is the theatre - so noise, acceleration, handling, stopping or even just the sheer relaxation and specialness of it all. The public don't know you (how good a driving god you are)and you don't know what sort of passenger they are (nervous, psycho etc) so not a great combination for going balls out.

Generally, if the police see a number of people driving stupidly they come to the organisers (though will still pull the individuals) and do have the power to shut the day down. All the drivers I've met at these events have been sensible, opening up but not fully pushing their cars.
