Ain't that the truth...One of my best memories is being 2hrs outside of Tokyo viewing an offmarket collector owned 365BB RHD, going for a test drive with the mechanic that's serviced the car all it's life in JP, nothing quite like an evening hoon in a BB through Japanese countryside & a mechanic who knows the car inside out.
Couldn't speak a word of english...But thumbs ups, OK & Faster Faster is all you need to know sometimes
Will nudge you when I'm next there Andy as I should be there for a more extended period in the coming months! Always good to meet other PH'ers

What fall? I'm not seeing any evidence of this in classic and supercar market.
Will be talking to owner of one of the biggest supercar garages tomorrow (as friend rather than client) so will ask him what he's seeing.
Go back to the start of the thread and read...... Keep an eye on adverts and see reductions and cars that haven't sold for many months. Will be talking to owner of one of the biggest supercar garages tomorrow (as friend rather than client) so will ask him what he's seeing.

Well I am seeing plenty of falls and lots of stock that hasn't sold in many months.
I do wonder if people are being over optimistic, then being more realistic when the market doesn't catch up.I saw a 911 GT3RS last week that was available "at the right price" I said "you mean £30k more than it is worth" and the lad smiled and said "he wants £180k for it".
It has about 8k on the clock, but there is a lower mileage one available locally at a dealer for £10k less and another in Kent for £20k less.
Take this F355, another dealer (also from the Netherlands) tried to sell the car for many month... twice they adjusted the price, it was last advertised for 80k€... new dealer asks 30k€ more!

I went through the Coys catalogue - a lot of these cars are LHD, VAT not paid...and have been floating around for sale for quite a while (Kahn ferraris from the Middle East, Japanese imports, etc.)
This is a bit odd too. I suspect that VAT has actually been paid (and reclaimed) but they are selling the cars 'plus VAT' to make the price look more attractive on the face of it as they will have to pay VAT on the full sale price anyway.Edited by bryn_p on Wednesday 22 June 10:53

Surely if the cars are in the UK then VAT has to be paid within a certain period of the vehicles entering the UK? It doesn't add up.Kahn has had some of his LHD Ferraris on sale for nearly two years.

Interesting point about VAT being quoted - I think it may have something to do with them not being UK registered yet but not too sure.
As has been said directly above, the VAT will almost certainly have had to have been paid by now. It is payable more or less immediately upon the cars entering the UK. If it hasn't been paid for any reason, it's likely to cause all sorts of problems when it comes to registering the cars in the UK.Gassing Station | Supercar General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
