Nice options to have to pick from!
I only drove the F-Type briefly (it was fun and sounded great) but enjoyed owning the Maserati for a few years. The obvious difference would be the two really useable rear seats. These are great for tall adults and not just for small children. There are different variants / gearboxes but I had the S-Auto and found this to be pretty good.
As others will no doubt tell you, the bigger heavier car is thirstier and a lot less sporty but only you will know what you want the car for in the end. The prices haven't moved much of Maserati's for a few years really. I could probably buy a similar car to the one I sold in 2013 for almost exactly the same money now through the same main dealer. I'd be weary of buying a new F-Type R personally as with most Jags.

The F type isn't that raw compared to others in it's class, still comfortable and sounds epic. I really enjoyed the one I had for a week (F Type S Cabrio).
For me I prefer the look of the F Type, looks modern and striking esp from the back. Roof down was also fun on sunny days. The maser is more grown up, bigger, not as sporty, better as a cruiser and mile muncher, but also sounds epic.

Ha Ha!! I know what you mean. Nevertheless, thank you for all your comments and inputs. That is why I have such dilemma. Hence the post and wanted to see what are the views from the fellow piston headers. I wish I can just own both of them as well as keeping the Tuscan. There are lots of characters I like on both cars as you all listed already. So I honestly don't know. At the moment Maserati edges just slightly ahead just because it feels more majestic than the Jag and it has 4 useful seats.
I guess you all are right, just go and try them out. Then I shall find out or confused myself even more.
I really love the F type for its looks and sound, but also the Maseratti GT is one of the best soundtracks ever and it has stunning looks too, the Mazza is not particularly quick though but more on the practical side with 4 seats. It's a tough choice but I think the Mazza would be the one I would go for.
I've owned a couple of Maseratis in the past. I certainly have a soft spot for them. However, the GT is ridiculously large. A neighbour bought one, he kept it less than a year. Its sim0ly not built for a city.Personally, I'd go for the Jaaaaag. Though, being a Londoner, size matters a lot in my car buying decisions.
Chalk and cheese. I chose a Maserati, because I wanted a 4-seater GT, and I am very happy with it. But if you want a 2-seater sports car, buy the Jaguar. Having said that, if I wanted a 2-seater, I'd probably go for a 911 or an AMG (assuming a Ferrari was out of the question on budget grounds).
Maserati for me, I loved mine, it had the MC sport suspension and handled very well.
I do not understand how a car that does 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and 185mph can be said to be "not particularly quick", it is fast enough that you cannot use it to its full potential on a public road unless you go to Germany (I did and it was brilliant).

I have had 2 x Maserati GTS. It depends on how important performance is, an Audi SQ7 would beat it in a straight line. If you aren't too fussed by performance then it is a good shout - looks great from the outside, sounds superb. It also gets a lot of positive attention if that's your thing, people stopping you to chat about the car etc.
I toyed with the idea of a 3rd one, but the electrical niggles and dated tech put me off - the sat nav and centre console are 10 years old and feel it compared to a modern interior. That said it does have a certain charm about it, and if you can get one with the interior carbon pack it feels pretty high end, if a little dated. Driving it is an event every time (when nothing is going wrong).
ETA the GTS's seem to be holding up ok £ wise, probably depreciating slower than the jag if thats a concern!

I own a facelift Maserati Granturismo Sport MC shift and love it. Interior electronics and sat-NAV are out of date, but everything is compared to the latest iPhone and waze (which connect to the car seamlessly via Bluetooth using an adapter I bought from Amazon for £60 that plugs into the socket in the glovebox).
I have the carbon exterior, interior and steering wheel and it still looks and feels fresh and modern and I have had absolutely no problems since purchase and 10k miles.
I considered changing to an F Type R coupe, but didn't think the jag felt anywhere near as special and depreciation was a real concern, not to mention that the lack of space inside the car compared to the maser. The handling of the maser is also superb although the brakes could probably do with being a bit stronger for what is a pretty big car. On the width front, I'd recommend avoiding 6"6' width restrictions and other than that you'll get used to it in no time.

It's called viseeo tune2air. It plugs into the iPod cable in the glovebox and works when you switch to 'aux' mode. It syncs as soon as you start the car and sound quality is excellent. If you use Spotify, just make sure you download / stream at the 'extreme' quality setting.
