Today I go and collect my old Ferrari F355 (proper clickerty-clack manual) which I originally bought in 2000 and sold in 2002.

She was my 1st Super Car and I have fond memories of her despite us parting company after less than 2 years and 4k miles.

She's been treated well since, having only done 13k miles in the last 14 years.

The opportunity arose of buying her back which I've done, but will she be as good as the memories?

Back in 2000 aged 33 I couldn't think of how a car could be better (Clarkson said the same back-in-the-day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8YZzGaprtA), but things have moved on and I'm fortunate to have had a few Supercars since her, but hopefully she won't disappoint....?

I'll find out this afternoon!

I paid less.... thumbup ...and she had new tyres and a cambelt service only 400 miles ago.

Had to be done for old time's sake!

[better than buying a Fred Flintstone Mini Clubman with rusty holes in the floor - my very 1st car!]

Ian

I ran my 355 alongside 599s, Californias etc and loved every minute of it, wish I still had it!. It'll probably feel a bit slow and maybe old fashioned in someways but expect it to be different and relish the design, character and the noise

Still the best looking car Ferrari have made for ages IMHO but like you the F355 GTS manual was my first and will be my last supercar so some say I'm biased. Bought at £49k in 2005 with 19k, now got to be worth double with 38k but NOT FOR SALE at any price

I think it is imossible for a car guy to be disappointed by a 355 - the looks, the sound, the manual - and nowadays imo the fact that you can drive it properly without getting into "going to jail" territory after a few seconds.

I also had an argento 355 many years ago and loved every minute of it. There is a model of an argento 355 sitting next to my computer screen and I look at it lovingly every other hour. I will buy another one at some point, unfortunately it will cost me at least 3x the money I sold the last one for ..... then I will take as much weight out of it as I can

My first 355 was also Argento and I loved how the colour showed off the details beautifully.

Sadly no chance of buying that car back as the guy I sold it to wrote it off comprehensively two weeks into ownership..

Easy to avoid this situation.
Never sell.
I still have the first "silly" car I bought in 1987, a Jalpa, and every car in between.

I can't see how you could be disappointed. I'm not a Ferrari fan by any stretch of the imagination, even after driving a 360 spider but I have always had a love for the 355. Just the sound alone is astonishing. It really is the only Ferrari I would buy with my own money.

Enjoy it!

I am of course biased but the 355 is the perfect blend of old and new; stunning looks and character combined with usable performance. I can't help imagining a 458 on the roads I drive would leave me feeling frustrated at how much of its performance I could access whereas the 355 I can open up and let the Capristo sing! Enjoy your car.

I suspect you will love it ...

I still have mine, the 550 and the Elise.

Everything else has come and gone but the 355 will never go.

Have fun

You won't regret buying it again, I bought my 355 Spider manual a couple of months ago, it's my first Supercar purchases at 34 years old. I stuck a Capristo on it and it is amazing! I don't care about it not being super quick compared to today's standards. I was out in it yesterday and it got real positive comments at the pubs I visited, (apart from I saw Tiff Needell in a pub in Sussex yesterday and he said I bought the wrong colour, haha). It's yellow by the way. wink. It gets my heart racing and makes me feel young every time I get it it, and the looks and that exhaust soundtrack and click clack gear box! It's one special car!

Each to their own it's like marmite you either love the colour or hate it, most like it I have experienced, tbh F355 looks good in any colour because of the pretty lines but RED and Yellow are the true Ferrari colours I think
