Car Transporting to Monaco/SOF
Discussion
Drive to Paris, stick it on the car train over night for circa £120 and then travel first class TGV to Nice (first class to Nice is £50) - done. Night out in Nice and then collect the car 11 am the next day.
Did this a few years back with a GT3 and wouldn't think twice about doing it again, excellent service and very cheap.

Does the train stop anywhere on the way? I want the car near Bordeaux...Did this a few years back with a GT3 and wouldn't think twice about doing it again, excellent service and very cheap.

This looks interesting and tempting for my next trip.
I'm not sure however if I would want to give them my keys and let them drive my cars on there ... Also it is not enclosed but I guess that is a secondary concern.
Also, do you know if are you covered by your insurance or by their insurance for the trip?

I love the idea of the car train but I'm too scared to use it.
I remember reading about thieves boarding the train during the night and systematically working their way along the cars smashing windows looking for valuables.
I would also struggle to hand my keys over for some unknown herbert to drive my pride and joy onto a train with steep entry and exit angles. I have watched them driving the cars along the undulating carriages at high speed. I wonder if they know that you have to lift the reverse lever on a F1 Ferrari??

The Autotrain service only accepts "standard size vehicles" and
They are only liable for about 10,000 euro for any damage and
They are likely to misplace the keys so bring a spare set.

Matt Cherry at EM Rogers will quote you over the phone and I was very happy with their service (Frankfurt to London).

Personally, I'd drive it and enjoy the 2 days on the road...

Just drove back from S France and along the way I passed 3 car transporters on the Autoroutes with family UK cars loaded. But I also spotted a 70s Lincoln Continental on one and a Diablo on another. I have no idea who arranges these but it was clearly a holiday thing rather than trade/recovery.

I do drive into Europe quite regularly and normally would share your thoughts on enjoying the drive. My enquiry here is mainly about available time, just means I could fly down and enjoy a 4 or 5 day break hooning about down there without the attendant 4 days travelling there and back.http://www.emrogerstransport.com

I'm getting too old for lengthy, consecutive drives! I usually limit daily travel to about 3 or 4 hours when I'm touring then stop at a nice hotel, of course half the fun is getting there but an hour and a half flight and then jump in the car does have a certain appeal.

I have used EM Rogers last year for a transport from London to Cote d'Azur, paid GBP£ 1100 + VAT for enclosed fully insured shared transport. They were going down for another event so might have benefited from the spare space in their truck. As usual if you are flexible with dates usually helps. And they are not big fans of transport to regions where they don't have other work around weekends. But do call them and get a quote. I then drove it back from South of France going through every mountain road i could find including switzerland and then black forest. The only boring bit was the road from the German-French border to Calais, it's motorway as dull as they come. http://www.emrogerstransport.com

This year I used Menabetz, a reputable Italian company (it's the supercar transporter division of Menabue) who now has regular transports to and from England as I believe they act as one of the main transporters for Bentley and Maserati (truck was loaded with Levante's on the top deck when they discharged my Speciale in Germany). Very competitive price and excellent reputation. http://www.mnbtransport.com/en/
Hope this helps. I have to say that it's not the cheapest option but definitely takes a lot of the hassle out of the trip.. fly there.. pick-up the car at the airport.. drive it on super roads.. after these trips I often wonder why on earth people would buy these cars and keep them confined in the UK.. they are just wasted.
