My best advice is spend at least 24 hours (preferably longer) with an example of each.
You can't tell anything from a 30 mins test drive.
This I agree is very true in fact I'd say it takes weeks to get to know a car!You can't tell anything from a 30 mins test drive.

Fortunately the Gallardo Spyder wasn't available until 2006 where Lamborghini had already made a lot of improvements to the model. I personally wouldn't touch a Gallardo before MY06.
No idea on running costs on a 360 but is it really cheaper to run than a Gallardo with it's VAG build quality?
Racing heritage made me chuckle though. I guess in Lamborghini road cars you can feel the tractor heritage.
I have heard that 06 onwards Gallardo's are much better. Maybe I ought to try one, see if it changes my opinion. No idea on running costs on a 360 but is it really cheaper to run than a Gallardo with it's VAG build quality?

When my 360 had a cambelt service and a few other bits some years ago the bill came to around £1800. I remember the specialist at the time telling me if I was to have the same work done on a Gallardo the bill would be double.
Have a bit more experience with the 360 but looked at the Gallardo.
Gallardo Likes:
Noise all the time
Drama
Newer basic design
Interesting
Gallardo dislikes:
Interior
Slightly schoolboy styling
Early car's looks dating badly?
Running costs are worse, according to my specialist
Colour schemes
360 Likes:
Noise
Response
Looks
Interior
Better colour schemes
360 Dislikes:
Delicacy required
Not as rare/interesting
Only sounds great with the right exhaust
Not the worst problem to have to chose. Nor something with a right/wrong answer. Nor something we're all going to agree on.

Drove the coupés of these two back-to-back a couple of years ago. The 360 was leagues ahead in terms of user experience but, given a choice between the spiders, it would be a tougher decision as the 360's rear deck looks awfully clumsy with those two ungainly lumps and exposed roll hoops - the Gallardo looks really slick and, let's face it, if you drive a Lambo you look like a porn star!
Gallardo all the way, I to had this cunumdron, but with the 430, drove both and went for an 07 sypder.
As others have said once you open the taps on the V10 is intoxicating, you also get a lovely rear screen that can be dropped with the roof up, that alone sold it.
Just to add to the mix, had mine 2 years and currently up for sale due to new house, and a daughter, if you want further info pm, pearl white, e gear, FLSH, new clutch, discs and pads all replaced too.
Have a look......

I have to disagree... Firstly, Gallardos do not have cambelts, so this is a huge reduction in comparative servicing. Secondly, last year my Gallardo had a major-interval service at an Indy and the bill was around the £1000 mark. Minor services are around £600 at an Indy. All this and given that the Lambos are way more reliable due to the Audi influences, the maintenance of a Gallardo will be far lower than a 360.When my 360 had a cambelt service and a few other bits some years ago the bill came to around £1800. Gallardo would be my choice for sure.
The 360 just looks and feels so dated now. Its still a good car but not quite on the same level as the G.
I'd say the opposite, the non LP Gallardo's are now looking very dated from the back particularly around the rear lights. Also IMO the interior of the Gallardo is dating more than the interior of the 360, maybe that's because the 360 interior is relatively simple and more timeless. The 360 just looks and feels so dated now. Interesting comment a few posts up about the servicing costs, that's on par with the 360 and less than I expected.
Have been trying to get to the bottom of this dilemma myself (albeit 360 spider vs gallardo coupe).
There doesn't seem to be much in it for comparative servicing costs, the gallardo seems more 'reliable'. after a few drives in both on road and on the track, the turn in on a 360 seems sharper and the handling more modulated than an early gally (although I'll likely be going for an earlier gallardo due to budget). Feels lighter on its feet. But then I Was much more impressed with a newer gallardo which feels more of a driving machine other a posing machine than the early ones.
Styling wise the lambo wins me over, much more of a sense of occasion and general eccentricity for me personally. I do think the 360 has aged gracefully, but to me the Gallardo feels like more of a supercar in the way that only lambo's tend to.
Ferrari Cabin had more space, but it's almost like it was in the wrong places, whereas you feel more cocooned in the lambo, kind of what I didn't like about the M6 in a way..
To me the presence, power, pace, cockpit finish in the lambo is winning me over more than the more classic ferrari.. Feels like the gallardo especially later models should be compared more to the 430 than the 360 though..

Picked up a 2003 360 Spider last week for £70k. Loving it so far.
Fast enough for UK roads and gets plenty of attention. Standard exhaust sounds a bit crap though.
Was it ver priced? Perhaps, but it was the only one I liked (has a great spec) that was up for sale and I didn't buy it as an investment.
Didn't even cross my mind to get a Gallardo as I'm more "in" the Ferrari Community than the Lambo one. Plus I have more contacts in the ferrari world which makes owning one a lot easier.
Best thing to do is to drive both cars and see which you like.

Common sense!Fwiw, in comparison terms, the Gallardo should really be compared with the F430.
I like the Gallardo but after having a poke around one and looking in the boot, it became obvious it wouldn't carry two across Europe to Sant'Agata with anything other than 'very light' luggage (unless I missed a big hidden compartment somewhere). I only mention it because it'd be a deal-breaker for me, which is a shame.
ps. Even though I'm a Ferrari man, the Aventador is still my favourite car

Luggage capacity is it's only weakness IMHO, as I'm not in the school of Fed-Ex'ing my luggage ahead to the continental destination, unlike others
