Looks like they're potentially pushed back delivery until 2021

As they're asking for a large deposit, be good to have a better idea on delivery.......

There are a few in the Tesla FB owners group who have paid deposits. The general consensus is that there's not much point. It'll be such low volume that someone who paid a deposit last year is likely to get their car at the same time as someone who waits till it's actually in production.

I didn’t go ahead with deposit for above reason - I enquired, lots of availability on build slots and lots of ambiguity on when.

Looked at it and like others didn't proceed. For the Founders Series car (and it's unclear what extras that has over the standard car) they want full payment of £190,000 up front, held in a non-segregated account, with no idea of when you'll get the vehicle.

Musk says a lot of things, most of them are just to get free publicity from the press reacting to his every word. A quick check of the news today shows that this strategy works.

He also said that the Roadster would be launched in 2020, and that the cybertruck would be released in 2021 costing $39000 (it came out in 2023 costing $79000)

0-60 <1 second that would be some experience ..... I must be getting old but I'm not sure I would want to put myself through that even as a driver ..

Well seeing as you can’t stop from 60mph in under a second, I doubt that you could accelerate that fast….
Unless there’s some fancy new tyre technology that they’ve suddenly discovered..

He's talking about using SpaceX's cold air thrusters. So that element of the acceleration isn't dependent on tyre grip.

Over here I'd have thought about zero, but it seems anything goes over in the US. I don't really understand the motivation for it, there have to be safety issues, it must add a load of weight, not to mention the complexity and cost. The original spec was 0-60 in < 2 seconds anyway, not exactly a slouch.
