Are you saying that's a good thing or a bad thing? He's a car dealer, his business is buying cars as cheaply as he can and selling them for the most he can while offering a service his customers are happy with. He is not a collector, he will have some emotional attachment but it will be surpassed by the profit he can make out of them.

I agree on the two sides thing, you used to work there so how did you find it ? (If you still do then obviously please ignore)
It had its ups and downs, as did any job. I learnt a hell of a lot there, both about the cars and about the business.

Amari isn't as daft as he looked on camera, he is good at what he does and is great fun (when he is in a good mood!).

Would I buy a car from him if I was in the position? Yes, definitely. I saw first hand how the cars were prepared and honestly Ive not seen anywhere else do it to such a high standard.

Ive never been back since I left over a year ago, should really go in for a coffee and see the new stock.

Thanks for the reply Adz, I remember your fascinating Countach restoration post at Amari, which the dumbass mods blocked for being an advert

I've no axe to grind either way - but there is a way to behave - both the dealer and customer!

The current market is ridiculous - and so right now - dealers really call the shots.

But remember what happens when it cools down or there is another recession and that's where relationships really mean something. And if you're a buyer in those markets - then maybe you're the one that got away....

Either way - there are many other dealers to chose from - so my advice is to vote with your wallet - and you decide who you want to deal with first - tell them exactly what you're after - and let them source you the car - and make it work for both of you.
i disagree that it is just dealers who are calling the shots in this current market !
I don't understand - who else calls the shots?

No problem. Yes, that was a great thread, shame it was blocked.

Do you know what happened to the car? From memory it was a silver Anniversary
How much did Amari want for it in the end?

White Anni with red leather.

Sold I believe but no idea how much or where it went. The way Contact prices have been going, I imagine it will have been quite a few £

Very true, there are lot of Joker Brokers / Bedroom Brokers on here claiming to have sold this and that, and have clients ready to buy cars - in fact all they are doing is trying to make themselves look successful to farm enquiries from unsuspecting geunine buyers and sellers

I have been to see Amari's showroom. I looked at a rather nice 360 I was interested in. Unfortunately my car was being repaired (only just getting it back this weekend) and Amari knew that, which in effect meant I was not going to purchase that day and was merely looking. I took my daughter and girlfriend too we all had coffee and a chat. He and the manager were very polite.

Unfortunately somebody has bought the 360 now.

I would most definitely buy a car from him.

It's was no longer than a 2 minute phone call. If he would have said his best price was the one listed, I would have thanked him for his time and continued my search.

Anyway, plenty of other people selling cars who won't be offended if I ask them if they are up for doing a deal.

I'm sure he was just having a bad day
I forgot about this thread, so I'll add just for continuity...

I ended up buying a 2014 Lamborghini Huracan from a dealer local to me, after I sold my McLaren 12C Spider back in August/September. Very happy with it.

Worked out the deal over the phone. I felt that both myself and seller got something out of the deal.

I was driving the car back to its new home within 24 hours of that first phone call.

This is how it should be done.

Im not saying that other people haven't had this experience with Amari Supercars, Im just saying that I was up for doing a deal, but he wasn't.

Maybe next time smile

For me the "what's your best price" question is either followed up with a low ball offer or an "ok let me think about it" and a deal is rare over the phone, in person I usually respond with the asking price and say that I'm open to reasonable offers.

You can deal over the phone but generally you can tell when a customer is genuine and when they are time wasters...

On my 6th supercar. 4 have them have been bought over the phone and delivered without seeing the car in person first.

Im obviously a massive timewaster though, because I dont want to pay the price on the screen.

I don't know if the newspaper has used a file photo for the article, but that looks remarkably like an Aventador SV in the photo. The article refers to a Gallardo, presumedly the orange LP570-4 Superleggera which they have in stock. Whatever are the true facts, a very unfortunate event and hopefully only the pride of the driver was hurt.
